Weekly Reminder Week of 4/17/2017

That is the case in this country for too many students, the soft bigotry of
low expectations. If you dont expect them to learn, if you dont expect
them to succeed then it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. -- Travis

Daily Dismissal Be sure that all students and staff are in their classrooms by 2:45
each day. Students and bus aides should have their belongings and be prepared for
when their buses are called. We will be slightly adjusting the time for clubs to
ensure that everyone is in their classroom by 2:45.

Cellphone Policy Committee The committee held its first meeting on

4/10. The next meeting will be during leadership on 4/24. In the
meantime, the 3rd floor has a plan in place where phones are collected at
the door. This only pertains to 3rd floor students at this time. Other floors
should continue to plan to collect phones in the classroom. Once the
cellphone policy committee has reached a conclusion, a school wide plan
will be shared and implemented.

Third Party Billing - TAs and MHPs are expected to keep up on their billing each day.
MHPs are expected to bill either before or after school. Individual TA schedules
include a 10 minute period each day in which billing is to be completed. Teachers
need to support by ensuring that there is time each day for billing to be completed.
If the schedule time for TAs is not convenient and needs to be changed, requests for
a time change must be made in writing to Jasmine.

Leadership Committee We will meet on Monday, April 17th. Meetings

from now until the end of the year will focus on planning for next year.
Meetings are from 3:30-4:15 in the conference room.

Calling for Custodial Assistance Please be sure to that when you call Rob or John to
assist with cleaning up an area that the area is cleared and controlled before
expecting them to enter the situation. Ideally, students should be completely
removed from a situation before Rob or John can clean or offer assistance. In
situations where a student is present, adequate staff must be available in the same
space to monitor student behavior.

Buddy Rooms Be sure that any buddy room assignment that will take
place on a different floor is approved by administration.

Bathroom Checking Policy It is extremely important that students are using the
bathroom one at a time and that staff check the bathrooms before AND after
student use. This is the expectation for all staff to put in place with all students.
Tornado Drill 4/20 at 1:45 - All RiverEast classrooms from 1st floor should
shelter in the corridor on the 1st floor that is adjacent to classrooms 1201,
1203 and 1205 and wait until the all clear is given to return to class.
Classrooms on the 2nd floor should go to the cafeteria. Classrooms on the
3rd floor should go the hallway between the orange kitchen and the gym.

Club Material Purchases Please email Katie no later than Wednesday, April 19 at
noon with any materials you will need for your club.

Student Breaks Please be sure to not schedule student breaks outside

between 11:00-12:45 as recess is scheduled throughout that time frame.

Security Cameras Security cameras are being installed at RiverEast. Security

cameras are being installed at schools across the district that dont already have
them.
