Working together to prevent child abuse and neglect.

In Child Abuse and Neglect by Owen Campion we can learn about different ways of

child abuse and neglect. Which means do not supply a childs basic physical, economical and

emotional needs. The author wrote about a case where a one year child died after a few hours

alone in his moms car. The mother went to the grocery store, goes back to her home, talked on

the phone and she also slept. Then she missed her son and ran to the car, where was her son. She

called 911, but it was too late for her baby. This baby died because she left him there and now

she is waiting a trial for manslaughter.

Statistics shows how this situation is affecting our society. It also can happen to everyone

no matter what country, ethnic, religion, social level. More than five children die every day in

this country and about 3.3 million reports of child abuse and neglect. Campion explain how the

church is working with the parents to prevent this problem, emphasizing those parents who are

divorced.

I like this article and the work of the priests. Is really sad watch all those children affected

because of child abuse and neglect. Some of them cant survive it and die. On the other hand,

catholic church had a lot of accusation because child sexual abuse and for some people is hard to

believe in priests. But, the point is that we need to fight and decrease this problem in our society

and build a better future for our kids.
