Please use this sheet to rate the overall effectiveness of EACH class member in your reading
group. You will award one single score on a scale of 0-25.
Consider the following criteria (DO NOT submit an answer to each question) to rate your
classmate before giving them a score at the end of this document.
2. How much did s/he participate? Please consider other forms of participation besides talking.
For example, did s/he send links to the group or email or provide comments on the group page
that were helpful?
4. Were his/her comments insightful? Did it appear that s/he not only read the material but
thought about it? Or was he/she just getting by.
5. What kind of attitude did s/he bring to the group? Positive? Engaged? Less positive? Lets get
this over with?
25-21: Excellent: This person was a joy to have in the group. S/he was prepared, participatory,
pleasant, thoughtful and seemed engaged.
16-20: Good: This person was a decent addition to the group. Mostly he/she came prepared and
participated reasonably well asking occasional thoughtful questions and not bringing the group
down.
11-15: Fair : This person did an average job. S/he came prepared but perhaps just did surface
reading. Alternatively, he/she came prepared some weeks and not others. Overall, this person
was generally not encouraging or helpful or thoughtful in his/her comments.
Inadequate: 10 points and below: This person did not come prepared and perhaps did not attend
the group consistently.
