Satoshi Kon 5/10 It seemed to be nothing more than an anime
trying to make up for lack of plot/originality with
an abundance of twists. Didnt really impress.
Isao 10/10 BEST MOVIE OF JANUARY. Completely
Takahata devastating. Its good to feel sad every now and
then, but damn. This movie was ruthless. Cried
three times in five minutes. Amazing plot,
amazing acting, amazing animation, amazing
everything.
Isao 8.5/10 It was really beautiful. It looked and felt like a
Takahata Japanese fairy tale come to life. The artistic
direction is some of the greatest I have ever
seen. The acting was top tier. The story didnt
quite live up to the aesthetics, but thats my
sole complaint.
Evan 7/10 Dont even try to think during this movie. This is
Goldberg, a pure turn-your-brain-off-and-smoke-a-bowl
Seth Rogan movie, which is what Seth and Evan do best.
The ending is fantastic and there are enough
stupidly funny moments during the movie to
keep you entertained.
Don 10/10 Don Hertzfeldt is one of my favorite animators.
Hertzfeldt Our minds seem to operate on the same
obscure frequency. Everything hes made I
loved. Except for this. What I feel towards this
movie is indescribable. The message is
beautiful. His stick figures are the most lifelike
characters Ive seen in a good while. The

absurdity of the movie is perfect and the
message surprisingly coherent and poignant.
His best work by far.
Lars von 3/10 I should have listened to the reviews. This
Trier movie is basically nothing but bad porn and a
depressing plot about an unlikeable character.
The points I did give are for the cinematography
and the acting. The young protagonist is
amazingly believable. Stellan is awesome as
always. Disappointing they had to be in this.
Nymphomaniac II will NOT be later on this list.
Christopher 9/10 BEST MOVIE OF FEBRUARY. Just as good as
Nolan everyone claimed it would be. Not quite as
confusing as everyone claimed it would be.
Amazing acting by Pierce and Moss. The plot
was flawless and it was incredibly original.
Recommended it to everyone who would listen.
Christopher 9/10 Beautifully shot, well acted, plus Ellen Page who
Nolan makes any movie better. Makes me wonder how
DiCaprio still hasn't won the Oscar.
Judd Apatow 8/10 Actually really funny and heartwarming. Seth
Rogan seems to be the master of awkward
romantic comedies.
Wes 9/10 BEST MOVIE OF APRIL. Wes Andersen is an
Andersen artist. No way around it. Beautiful frames,
beautiful editing, beautiful message, script,
everything. My second favorite Wes Andersen
movie so far
The Coen 9/10 Such a random movie, I was surprised as to
Brothers how much I liked it. All the characters are
 memorable, all the acting on point. The Dude is
one of the greatest characters I've seen in a
while, rolling with the flow, never resorting to
anger. Great movie.
12 Fargo (1996) The Coen 8/10 Remarkable movie. Steve Buscemi plays an
Brothers excellent madman and William H. Macy
epitomizes the everyman who gets too deep
into shit. The movie is also a love story to
Northern America, "ooh ya"s and "eh"s
dominating the script. Great movie, making you
feel genuine emotions for every character in it.
13 Her (2013) Spike Jonze 10/10 A movie that got far too overlooked at the
Academy. It captures raw humanity in the form
of an artificial human and does so with such
elegance that I was floored by it. Beautiful
soundtrack as well. Just a gorgeous movie.
14 Big Hero 6 (2014) Don Hall & 7.5/10 As heartwarming as it is heartbreaking, Big
Chris Hero 6 fails to disappoint, another success in
Williams Pixar's almost spotless record (looking at you,
Cars 2). Edit: Apparently, Pixar didn't make this
movie, but rather Walt Disney Animation
Studios. Well then. Looking at you, Atlantis. You
were mediocre at best. Big Hero 6, you were
pretty good.
15 X-Men: Days of Future Bryan Singer 7/10 Honestly a lot more feel good than I would
Past (2014) expect from an X-Men movie. But that's about
it. The plot wasn't breath-taking, the effects
were good but uninspired, and the characters
just felt off. It held together pretty well, but it
just seemed to be made for the sake of making
 it.
16 The Princess Bride Rob Reiner 9/10 The lines are real, not forced. The actors come
(1987) off as real people instead of clever characters.
And thats really where the beauty is, in the
believability. The comedy is hilarious and
unexpected, and the movie is ridiculously
quotable.
17 Leon: The Professional Luc Besson 8.5/10 It should be the goal of any great movie to
(1994) cause a feeling so strong in the viewer as to
make him feel as if he is a part of the film itself.
This movie did that with discomfort and
affection, creating almost a Bonnie and Clyde
relationship between the tow main characters. I
have rarely before felt such love and
investment for a movie and its characters.
Astonishing movie, carried entirely by Jean
Reno and Natalie Portman, creating some of the
most dynamic characters in recent history.
18 The Godfather (1972) Francis Ford 10/10 How could anyone hate this movie? It is quite
Coppola literally a masterpiece. Every shot is beautiful,
the direction is flawless, the stories are woven
together tightly. Coppola recognizes that
sometimes less is more and used it impeccably
in this movie; the viewer is never lost and the
big moments seem even bigger in comparison.
Thats not even to mention the story, which is
amazing, adapted adeptly from the novel. One
of my favorite films of all time.
