After my diagnosis of Coronary Heart
Disease, my physician recommended
for me to seek a specialist who
performed the Cardiac Cath.
Procedures. It is an invasive imaging
procedure that tests for Heart Disease
and Coronary occlusion. A long
narrow tube was inserted into my R/
Femoral artery and was guided into
my heart. The test varies in length
depending on the physicians ability
and any unknown x-factors.
After the test a medical technician,
stood on a stool and applied direct
pressure to the wound site for 20-30
minutes to stop the bleeding from the
removal of the wire guide that was
placed in the artery.
Treatment Plan
SIDE EFFECTS
The medical plan of action was a trio of
Periodic/Intermittent muscle pain
choices that was made available to me. The
first choice was surgery, then the
Liver enzyme elevation potential
placements of stents and finally a drastic
lifestyle change which was diet and Adjunctive medication
exercise. I opted for choice #3 which was
the diet and exercise option, although I Medication interactions
had 80% blockage post-test. Being Italian/
Irish; proved to be a formidable task as I Knowledge of my dietary food
am addicted to food (Any). I drastically limitations along with the
changed my diet from meat based to more importance of exercise with this
veggies and walked and exercised from 30 disease
-45 minutes /day. I was advised to forgo
Subways BMT grinder to a Tuna or Veggie
sub. Brutal! It did however give me
positive results before undergoing my 2nd
Cardiac Cath. Procedure. The tests were
performed in Florida and 4 years later my
family and I relocated back to the New
England. Due to the tremendous Italian
food which was now available, I
unfortunately put back all the weight and
have lapsed into becoming a NE Patriot
couch potato. In addition to my slippage, I
was put on a statin medication which has
its own set of problems. It is used to raise
my HDL & lower my LDL.
