Rube Goldberg Project

Mechanical System 1:
The candle is moved under the fishing line that is tied around a screw.
This releases the potential energy in the fishing line.
Mechanical System 2:
As the fishing line releases it drops the nut that it is tied to. The nut
swings from a spring that is tied to a dowel rod. The nut hits a golf ball.
Mechanical System 3:
The golf ball is propelled from the hit of the nut. The golf ball rolls down
a ramp towards a cup at the end.
Mechanical System 4:
As the golf ball rolls into the cup it lowers it down. The cup is attached
to another on the other side by fishing line. The line is put through a set of
pullies. As the first cup goes down it raises the other cup. The second cup
hits a piece of wood sticking out from a small ledge.
Mechanical System 5:
When the small piece of wood is hit it acts like a lever and push up on
a couple of dominos.
Mechanical System 6:
The dominos fall. The dominos are lined up in order so that when one
falls the next on in front gets hit and falls. This causes the domino effect. A
ball is placed at the end of the platform.
Mechanical System 7:
The ball is hit by the dominos and is rolled down a ramp to a lever
waiting at the bottom.
Mechanical System 8:
The lever gets moved by the ball. The lever gets pushed up and this
pushed up on the end of the hammer which moves the hammer.
Mechanical System 9:
The hammer gets pushed by the lever. The hammer swings on a dowel
rod and hits the nail right on the head.
