Dear Friends,
Aromatherapy with Karin will break new ground on Monday, May 1st at 2 pm, as seniors are paired
off in a buddy up session and customize formulations for each other. Space is limited for these
classes, so sign up with Ruthy in the office as soon as possible.
Join us for a very important Tech Topics workshop on Monday, May 8th at 2 pm. Author Abbey
Stokes will return to our Center for a seminar entitled, Increase Your Online Safety - Identify and
Avoid Scams, Fake News, and Phishing Emails.
This months Chair Massages will be held on Tuesday, May 9th and Monday, May 22nd at 1:50 pm.
Register in the office to secure your appointment slot.
Our Fresh Bites Cooking Class will focus on Think Green for Spring on Wednesday, May 10th at
2 pm. The Computer Lab will be available concurrently.
Celebrate the season with a Spring Walk at Randalls Island Park, on Thursday, May 11th. See the
attached flyer for details and register in the office to secure your spot.
We are very excited to host our first ever AUTHOR VISIT at our Book Club discussion group this
month. Author Imbolo Mbue will join us to discuss her very topical novel Behold the Dreamers on
Monday, May 15th at 2 pm.
Explore the rich architecture of New Yorks Upper West Side on Wednesday, May 17th at 2 pm, as
licensed tour guide Marty Schneit takes us on a virtual tour of the area from the comforts of our
Center. See attached flyer for details.
Moriah will be open for a PICKUP LUNCH on Sunday, May 21st at 10:30 am.
Beading with Bette will take place on Monday, May 22nd at 2 pm. Please sign up in the office.
Celebrate our May birthdays at our Birthday Party on Wednesday, May 24th. If you are a May baby,
come to the office earlier this month to be photographed for the slideshow!
Our annual Intergenerational Bingo game is always such a hit and takes place on Thursday,
May 25th at 2 pm. The preschoolers love to play games with our seniors so please join us!
Enjoy a very special Mandolin Musicale on Monday, May 29th at1 pm, featuring Josh Alpert on the
mandolin, accompanied by Eric Freeman on the keys. Explore the history and utilization of this
most unique string instrument from Classical to Celtic music, from Bach to the Beatles. Please note
that there will be an EARLY LUNCH at 12:15 pm on that day.
Moriah will be CLOSED in observance of the Jewish holiday of Shavuos on Wednesday, May 31st
and Thursday, June 1st. Please note that we will serve an EARLY LUNCH at 12:00 pm on Tuesday
May 30th.
Fit n Fun with Luz and English Classes with Rochel continue on Tuesdays. Computers with Sue-
Rae meets on Wednesdays. Tai Chi with Julio continues on Thursdays. Nans Yoga Classes
remain on Fridays. Check the attached calendar for any changes in the regular schedule.

Jende Jonga, a Cameroonian immigrant living in
Harlem, has come to the United States to provide a
better life for himself, his wife, Neni, and their six-
year-old son. In the fall of 2007, Jende can hardly

for Clark Edwards, a senior executive at Lehman
Brothers. Clark demands punctuality, discretion, and
loyaltyand Jende is eager to please. Clarks wife,
Cindy, even offers Neni temporary work at the
Edwardses summer home in the Hamptons. With
these opportunities, Jende and Neni can at last gain a foothold in America and
imagine a brighter future.

When the financial world is rocked by the collapse of Lehman Brothers, the

Explore the rich architecture and history of the area surrounding
Columbus Circle from the comfort of your chair with this virtual
tour. Visit the site of the first Jewish congregation in North America,
learn the origins of Art Deco, and more. Tour guide Marty Schneit
of Martys New York Tours will reveal local secrets, stories, and
scandals that will make visitors jaws drop in amazement. Stops
include sites associated with Mae West, Joe DiMaggio, Marilyn
Monroe, Rudolph Valentino, Charlie Chaplin and James Dean. Visit
the school that Robert Oppenheimer, the father of the Atomic
Bomb, attended and sites where two classic movies were filmed.

About the presenter:
Marty Schneit, born and bred New Yorker and Historian. A licensed New York
City tour guide. Marty has lectured at the New York Public Library, National
Council of Jewish Women, JCC, The 92nd Street Y and The Health Outreach
Program of New York Presbyterian Hospital. The Jewish Braille Institute has
recorded Martys lectures for their audio magazine and lecture series.
He typifies pride and passion for the City of New York.
