Bulleted List for Project #3

Audience: Family Member that also has diabetes

First paragraph:
- Talk about my problem with diabetes and how I felt helpless at first
- Establish that the main concern is a balanced and healthy life for my
family and I

Second Paragraph:
- Understanding how the family member may feel passive is the best
way to go
- No questioning the doctor
- No interrupting the doctor
- Dont waste the doctors time by telling him stories
- These are all signs of disrespect

Third paragraph:
- Common ground would be to have the perfect health for the patients
involved
- I am a little confused and I need to expand on this idea more

Fourth paragraph:
- Respectively propose to be active in the doctors office
- Use the questions here:
o Do you suppose that revealing more to a doctor can benefit a
patient?
o Do you feel the doctor should ask more open-ended questions to
open up the floor and allow the patients to respond?
o Think about the health provider you consider to be most
important or influential. What made this person the most
important in your health care? What did they do differently that
made the situation positive? What did you do differently to make
the situation positive?

Fifth paragraph:
- Spell out the issue
- Maybe include that there is a time to be passive and a time to be
active
- Emphasize that the common concern is for health of the family
member

3 Questions that need to be addressed:

- Im not sure what I am suppose to be doing on the third paragraph?
- Would it better if I changed to the family member writing a letter to
Joanne?
o Maybe be the doctor
- Should I not talk about how I felt helpless in the first paragraph?
