College Application Reflection

1. What is a college application fee waiver? Based on the applications you plan to submit, do
you qualify for any of the fee waivers presented? If so, for which do you qualify? Do you
plan on using these fee waivers to help out with paying for the cost of applying? Why or
why not?

A college application fee waiver is a form of financial assistance that disregards

the fee that is charged during the application process. I qualified for the fee waivers
presented by the UC system, the CSU system, and the Common Application. I used all of
these waivers in order to eliminate any costs. This allowed me to apply to the schools of
my choice without causing a financial burden.

2. List the campuses to which you submitted applications. Write one paragraph highlighting
the three most important criteria you used in determining where to apply. You may need to
refer back to the 23 criteria for selecting a campus listed in the SuperMatch College
Search on Naviance.

I applied to University of San Diego, University of California San Diego,

University of California Santa Barbara, University of California Riverside, California
State University Los Angeles, California State University San Marcos, California State
University Fullerton, and San Diego State University. When applying to these schools, I
considered location, offered majors, and my test scores. Location was an important factor
to me because I would like to stay local or in the California area. This gives me the
opportunity to receive state grants while avoiding out of state tuition fees. Another
important factor was the majors that each school offered. I would ultimately like to work
in the field of neurology so it is important that the school I attend offers courses relating to
psychology or behavioral neuroscience. Lastly, I took my test scores into consideration.
The schools that I chose tend to admit students with test scores that are similar to mine.

3. Which campus is the one you would most like to attend? In one paragraph explain why
this campus is your first choice compared to the others.
University of San Diego is my first choice compared to the other schools I applied
to. USD offers courses in Behavioral Neuroscience, which is my preferred major. This
automatically places it at the top of my list. USD is also a local school that is not too far
from where I live. This would reduce the cost of transportation and make the process of
commuting to and from school much easier. I enjoy the atmosphere of the campus and
believe that University of San Diego would be an amazing school to attend.
