How do students

learn study skills?

Corinne Kurpakus, Joseph
Alexis, Ellery Rehovsky
Why?
We decided to do a survey on how students learn different
study skills because of our interest in how it can affect
someones GPA.
Our Survey
Our Survey continued...
continued...
Questions we asked:
-What is your gender?

-What year are you expected to graduate?

-What college are you enrolled in?

-Who among these choices taught you specific studying techniques you use today to study for
tests/exams?

-Is the faculty doing enough to effectively teach you studying skills?

-Do you use resources provided by the campus to help you study? If yes, what? If no, why not?

-What is your GPA?

Gender
We had 32 male
respondents and 94
female.
Grade Level
Here is the breakdown of the respondents we had by grade level:

-Freshman-24

-Sophomore-21

-Junior-20

-Senior-61
College
Nearly all of the
respondents were
from the Teachers
College, Public
Service, and Liberal
Arts and Sciences
College.
Faculty Assistance
Do you use resources provided by the campus?
This question
we asked was
open-ended so
respondents
could write their
own specific
answers causing
it to be difficult
to analyze this
data.
GPA of respondents
Our female respondents
had a higher GPA than
the males. Data shows a
higher GPA was present
among the survey
participants as well.
What we would improve:
In the future we would make all of our questions NOT
open-ended. By having an open-ended question it made
some of our data unable to be collected. Also, we would ask
more specific questions on whether study skills really
correlate with GPA.
Results
Overall we found that many students do not use
resources provided by the campus to study, and
also didnt believe that the faculty needed to
help the students study. Also, there was no
direct correlation between GPA and study skills.
