GC Mass Communication Internships

GCA Annual Conference
February 17, 2017
Im writing to express my deepest interest in the position of Media Relations Coordinator for USA Baseball.
As a senior mass communication student and four-year NCAA student-athlete at Georgia College, I am very
anxious to apply my skills in communication, creativity and writing to the exciting world of athletics, and would
be honored to represent USA Baseballs brand in the most positive way. I look forward to the opportunity to
grow professionally following my graduation in May 2017 and I feel as though I would be a valuable asset to USA
Baseball.
As a member of the GC womens soccer team, I know what it takes to represent a valued brand. I have effectively
managed the demands of both an extensive course load and athletic team participation, and dedicated my time
to developing my intrapersonal and teamwork skills. I am an efficient worker with great attention to detail, and
possess a passion for individual and team performance and success. My Public Relations Practicum experi-
ence in the GC Athletics department is directly applicable to the Media Relations Coordinator position at USA
Baseball. As a practicum student for the Assistant Athletics Director of Communications, I performed similar
duties including using advanced writing skills to create press releases, website management, social media con-
tent creation and live updating during sporting events, and actively communicating with players and coaches. I
believe the combination of my education, experience, organizational skills, and commitment to accountability
and success provide the right skills and mindset for this position.
Thank you for your consideration. I would appreciate an opportunity to discuss how I can not only meet, but ex-
ceed your expectations in this role. Please contact me at (678) 451-6499 or alex.giles24@gmail.com. Thank you,
and I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Alexandra Giles

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga.- Georgia College Soccer will start the season with two home games next weekend. The Bobcats will take on the
University of Mount Olive on Friday, Sept. 2 at 7 p.m. and Newberry College Sunday, Sept. 4 at 3 p.m.
Head Coach Hope Clark begins her seventh season with the Bobcats this weekend. Joining her are two new assistant coaches, Matt Seib
and Abby Dalton. Seib comes to Milledgeville from Valdosta State University while Dalton is a former Bobcat soccer forward who holds the

nal round of the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Tournament. The Bobcats are ranked fifth in the 2016 PBC Preseason Coaches Poll.
The team has improved with each training session and scrimmage this preseason and I am excited to get the 2016 season underway, said
Clark. Our opening weekend will give us a better idea about where we are and the areas that still need some tweeking before we begin con-
ference play.
Among the 20 returning players are two All-Tournament Team recipients including senior defender Allyease Schwartz (Roswell) and senior
midfielder Sol Baldassini (Miami, Florida). In addition, the team will return three All-Conference Second Team selections in sophomore
goalkeeper Ashlee Graham (Decatur), sophomore midfielder Ragnheidur Bjarnadottir (Gardabaer, Iceland), and Schwartz.
Four incoming freshman who were added during the offseason will join the team this fall.
This will be the last season for eight seniors, Millie York (Hove, England), Liz Franco (Milton), Baldassini, Alex Giles (Dacula), Cayce
Hamilton (Johns Creek), Schwartz, Emily Wilhelm (Suwanee), and Jessica Catapano (Alpharetta).
The home opener will be at Bobcat Field at 7 p.m. against the Mount Olive Trojans.
The Georgia College Department of Athletics, two-time winners of the PBC Commissioners Cup, sponsors 11 varsity athletic programs at
the NCAA Division II level. As a Division II program, Bobcat Athletics prides itself on balancing the life of the student-athlete, evidenced by
