Sunflower

By: Vicente Arredondo

You look like a sunflower

Your hair reflects the heat of the sun
Your limbs seem to blossom as you move
You move with the wind
And with the wind you go

You rise tall and proud

Your stem cannot be broken
But bends in the wind
You love the feeling it causes

I was the wind and I made you feel

I made you bend and sway and swing
All these motions for you to radiate
The sun for you to imitate

Then another wind came

Blew my currents away
I had no choice but to see
My lovely flower swing and sway
This done to another rhythm
Done to another current, a different gust
I cannot adjust my motion
I am what I am

I cannot change
I will not change
But I will keep my motion
To sway another flower

As we both share the same sun

We are neither lovers
Neither enemies
Nor companions
