Most minor behavior problems; I will deal with by giving the student a warning. If the
student continues to break the rules throughout the day they might start to disrupt the
class and they will be considered noncompliant. Being noncompliant results in being sent
to the principals office, a phone call to the parents or both.
Most major behavior problems result in being sent to the principals office, a phone call
to the parents, detention or all three. Some may even result in suspension.
Most major behavior problems result in immediate suspension or expulsion.
*Some of the rules in the chart are repeated because some of them depend on the
situation.
Inappropriate familiarity (Minor/Major)- Children hug each other all the time so its
not bad, but if one of the children is touching each other in an appropriate area it is a
major problem. If the children are kissing than it is a major problem. If one of the
children are hugging but one of the children is asking them to let go but other child
wont than it is a major problem.
Possession of a weapon (Minor/Severe)- Children sometimes like to bring toys to
school, which is a distraction to classmates. This will include BB Guns and Water
guns, which I consider toys so those are minor problems. If a child brings an actual
knife or gun than it is severe problem. If the knife is a butter knife than the problem
could be minor or major.
Noncompliance (Minor/ Major)- If the child continues to break the rules
continuously than the problem raises from minor to major. If the child doesnt fix
their act after a phone call home than the problem raises to severe.
Disrupting others/Abusive conduct to others (Minor/ Major)- Disrupting a classmate
could be a simple passing of notes which is a minor problem. Abusing a classmate is
the same as fighting another classmate which is a major problem.
Harming classroom pets (Minor/ Major)- Harming the classroom pet could be an
accident. If the child didnt know how to handle the pet than it is minor problem. If
the child continues to harm the pet than it turns major.
Truancy (Major/ Severe)- If the student misses about half a month to a month of
classes than it is a major problem. If the student is still missing class and there isnt a
family emergency behind it than it is a severe problem. If there was a family
emergency than I highly recommend the family to notify the school so it isnt
considered truancy.
