learn how to solve 3 digit addition

Objective(s): TLW show understanding by showing their work on their paper. TLW show knowledge
by completing the entire worksheet before the end of class.

Materials/Resources/Technology needs: Math worksheet, Smartboard, ELMO

Instructional Procedures
Focusing Event:
Number of the Day a number is chosen by the teacher and students write the number in 3 different
ways. We review everyones number together and fill out our math journals.

Teaching/ Learning Procedures:


Review regrouping using worksheet, this time with 3 digit addends. Work out first few problems
together over ELMO, then have class answer questions.

Formative Check(ongoing or specific): See where the struggles are coming from then work the
problem together as a class, calling on a different student to call out the next step in the problem.

Reteach (alternative used as needed): Remind students to use place value when carrying
over.

Closure: Review Part-Part-Whole of 3 digit numbers.

Assessment/Summative Evaluation: Worksheet

Modifications/Notes: Advanced student: Allow to answer the first few problems and call out steps they
used to work out the problem.
Learning Disability: Give multiple chances to answer questions and allow student help when
frustrated.
Attention Problems: Students with attention problems should be placed at the front of the class, as
not to get distracted by whats behind them.
