CHURCHILL COLLEGE

SINGLE ACCOMMODATION FOR ADVANCED STUDENTS

Our accommodation for single advanced students includes more than100

rooms around the main college site, which include a small number of
rooms on traditional staircases and others in older domestic houses
(hostels) and a few shared flats (Sheppard Flats). There are also some
cheaper rooms in small shared houses elsewhere in Cambridge, including
one near the Addenbrookes Hospital site. The level of rent for different
rooms is set by the student representatives and depends on the size and
facilities of the room and building in which it is situated. Images of the
various hostels can be found at:

Approximate rents for single accommodation next year, including heating

but excluding electricity will be:

Study Bedrooms (most with basin) from 92- 140 per week
Study bedrooms with private (en-suite) shower and WC 139 -
161 per week
Hostel bedrooms from 96 - 139 per week

If you are coming with a partner and would like to be considered for a
Wolfson Flat, please contact Rebecca Sawalmeh in the TAS Office.

Rental contracts are signed for a minimum period to the end of June of the
following year and a maximum period of 31st August. The minimum period
cannot be varied. You will be asked to confirm your departure date at the
beginning of May but we will try to be flexible provided that reasonable
notice is given for stays after the end of June. For those doing courses
which are likely to last beyond the end of August, we will try to
accommodate you until you finish but it may be necessary to move rooms
to install new students at the start of the next academic year.

All accommodation has access to shared kitchen facilities (pans, crockery

and cutlery are not provided). However, it is expected that you will eat in
College for some of the time and this is an important opportunity to meet
students and academic staff in different disciplines as well as your own.
There is catering seven days a week in the dining hall and the buttery bar.

Rooms are centrally heated and fully furnished, including a duvet, under-
blanket, pillow and spare top blanket. Bed linen and towels are not
provided but are required. Rent in College rooms includes background
central-heating and hot water. Electricity supply is at AC 240 volts (50
cycles). 3-prong flat-pin plugs with fuses are required.

Preferences in type of accommodation and/or price range should be

forwarded as soon as possible. We cannot guarantee that your preference
will be available, but we will do our best to suit you. Do let us know if you
have any special requirements. If you are over 6ft 4 in. please let me know
as we have a limited number of larger beds. Allocation of accommodation
is made during July and August and only when students have met the
conditions set for them by the Board of Graduate Studies. We will write to
you again at that time.
