5 Year Plan

For the next 5 years of my life, I am not exactly sure what my future entails. I will try my best to

be the most motivated and determined leader in order to be successful in life. For the next four years of

my life, I will be attending the United States Naval Academy in the class of 2021. I am extremely

excited to join the military and serve for the greatest nation in the world. My level of success at the

Naval Academy will set me up for the next 40 years of my life.

When I graduate from high school on June 1, 2017, I will begin the next journey of my life. I

will begin my plebe year on June 29, 2017. Plebe summer is the form of physical training that the

Naval Academy hosts to get their midshipman in shape. I will then begin the school year in mid August

after Plebe Summer. The reason I have accepted to join the Navy is because of the pride I have for the

nation and I believe that I am in the position to immediately help as many people as possible. I applied

to the Naval Academy because of my injury in football. I tore my labrum in my throwing shoulder while

playing quarterback and I realized that I want to be in an organization that is bigger than myself. Joining

the military will allow me to be in a position of immediate impact on a large group of people.

For the next four years of my life, I will be at the Naval Academy and I will graduate in the year

of 2021. I hope to be an officer in the military and begin my occupation. I am looking to major in the

field of political science to take an in depth look in the field of the current political climate and the history

of politics in general. I am also looking to fly in the military. This has been something that I have been

extremely interested in.

My five year plan has drastically changed because I was recently committed to Indiana

Wesleyan University. This all changed on the morning of May 3, 2017 when I received the Fully

Qualified Offer of Appointment to the United States Naval Academy. This came after the stressful
wait for my waiver for the Academy. I had to receive a waiver because of the torn labrum in my

shoulder and this process took almost four months. This was a stressful situation considering that I was

hoping to be at the Naval Academy next year. This is the most rewarding and honorable information

that I have received thus far in my young life. This drastically changes my future for the next five years

of my life. I am extremely excited to have the offer of appointment and I hope and I can fulfill the full

potential.

In five years, I hope to be an officer in the Navy, flying planes, and have a degree from the

Naval Academy. I will then have to serve four years after I graduate to fill the requirement of the

service that I have to pay for the academy. I will then look to make a career in the Navy because of the

patriotism and pride that I have for this country. I will then look at other career fields in my life that can

put me in a position to be successful. I will also promise to abide by the mission statement issued out by

the Naval Academy which states, "To develop Midshipmen morally, mentally and physically and to

imbue them with the highest ideals of duty, honor and loyalty in order to graduate leaders who are

dedicated to a career of naval service and have potential for future development in mind and character

to assume the highest responsibilities of command, citizenship and government." This is a statement that

I am willing to follow to the best of my ability to be the most successful military leader that I could be.

Through my life, I have tried my best to be the most determined and motivated leader and this

has propelled me through my life. I hope to continue this as I venture into the military and learn and

grow with new opportunities. Merced High School has helped build a great foundation for me to excel

in my future and I am thankful for that. I am ready to begin my new journey in the United States Naval

Academy for the class of 2021.
