To Whom It May Concern,

I am writing this letter of recommendation for Daija Lovejoy. I have had the pleasure of knowing Daija
for three years as an advisor and this year as her Statistics Teacher at Clayton Valley Charter. From the first
time Daija walked into my class, I could tell she was extremely concerned about her education. Daija came to
my class during a lunchtime concerned about the class she was to take next year because her Algebra 2 Trig
teacher left in the middle of the year and she had substitutes, she felt that she wasnt getting the level of
education she needed to continue on to PreCalculus as was her desire. She consulted me on what she should
do and continually brought issues like these to me during my lunchtime where I open up my classroom. Her
willingness to listen to advice was an admirable quality and her community awareness high. She was
extremely concerned with the climate of the school as events in the country came up. She went straight to a
positive outcome to start the Black Student Union at our school. She continued to stay in contact with me to
let me know about her time at the school and in her community. As I have seen Daija strive to perfect herself
as a person I can only be eager to hear about her new successes as she seeks out college education. I am
excited to see Daija continue to pursue social justice matters. She also spent volunteer time painting a mural
on the door of my classroom one of the quotes which I feel sums up how Daija has attacked her education,
Success doesnt come to you, you go to it. She Daija has shown through her statistics class this year that she
is willing to see different points of view on social issues and is working to improve them. I appreciate the time
you took to read this letter and welcome any further questions regarding my letter of recommendation for
Daija Lovejoy.
