A glimpse of Ali

An Iraqi Story
Backround
Ali is a young Iraqi kid. He is in the middle of a war. He lives
in a barn that is very trashy. He hopes to one day find a place
where he can be safe. His family have all been victims of the
war. His little sister died at the age of 3 from a stray bullet.
The other character is a U.S soldier that has been deployed
in Iraq in the same area as Ali. He had to leave his wife and
son.
The story begins
Ali is at his home which is covered in trash. He is waking up
to the sound of gunfire. He eats for breakfast khubz, a flat
oval shaped styled bread. He goes out everyday and walks 2
miles to a market. He makes his money by scavenging things
of the piles of demolished buildings. Today he goes out
scavenging things near a recently destroyed building.
Jake
Jakes day starts out a lot differently. He wakes to the smell of
morning breakfast. He has eggs, bacon, and an apple. At the
table him and his other comrades talk about the plan for
today. Today they have to go scouting out where the mortar
hit last night.
Back to Ali
When Ali goes to the recently destroyed building, he first
goes to look around to see if anyone else is their. He
searches around the building, when he hears the sound of a
car. He then runs to the nearest cover. He looks out and sees
U.S soldiers.
U.S Soldiers get to the sight of the Mortar hit
When Jake and his other comrades get there, they here
someone walking around. They search the area, but cant find
anyone. They start going through the rubble looking for any
casualties. There are none there. Then suddenly out of
nowhere, they see a boy. They approach him. Jake ask him
Did you see anyone here before we got here? The boy says
no. They ask what he is doing out here, but can only answer
with money.
The conversation between Jake and Ali
Jake ask what is your name? He responded with Ali The next
question Jake ask is were his parents are. He says that they died.
Jake observed the boy and noticed that he was remarkably
skinny. Ali then ask can I see where your from? Jake shows him
a picture of his hometown. Ali responded with Wow! Suddenly
out of nowhere bullets fly pass Jakes and his comrades head.
They take cover. Out of the corner of Jakes eye, he sees Ali drop
to the ground. He couldnt focus on him now. They took out the
threat. After Jakes comrade Liah took Alis pulse.
The story continued
Liah was trying to check for a pulse, but there was nothing
there. Jake could only look over the boy that had just been
talking to him. As a battalion, they decided to bury him. They
buried him with a cross, an iraqi flag, and Jake decided to
place the picture of his city next to him.
What the point is
The point is to bring to you everyday things that could happen
to you when you are in Iraq. These are some of the
experiences Iraqis have to go through. Some live a very poor
life, making money through scavenging through rubble. We
need to do anything we can to help the people. You can
donate at Iraqi Childrens Relief Fund.

Continued
They are still rebuilding buildings like hospitals trying to
rebuild what was their before. They have more markets and
the people feel safer. Al-Qaeda is still there though. There are
less people living in poverty. There infrastructure is starting to
rebuild slowly.
Continue
Iraqs military is rebuilding and is fighting a constant battle
between Al-Qaeda. Thanks to constant donations, they have
grew. They can defend themselves now. I wrote about this
because news gives out fake news. Also lots of people have
loss their lives to this war.
