I am passionate about exploring education provided for special needs student. I am connected to

this topic because it pertains to my intended major. I also have had experience growing up with

my best friend whose brother has severe down syndrome. Due to my connection with disabilities

I want to explore what they are offered and well as opportunities that are available to them after

they graduate. Many students like this thrive on a schedule and enjoy the school environment,

however at the age of 21 they are often left with the structure school provides. Many rural areas

also dont have later in life programs for these children.

I am passionate about advocating for technical schools being a more common option in high

school. I am connected to this subject because of not being offered this chance in my area. A

voc-tech school wouldve been helpful for me due to my love for career based classes, I am one

who didnt thrive in the general education classes. I was known for my skills in the career and

technical classes offered at my high school. I believe if these schools were more widely offered I

wouldve had a different career path ahead of me. It couldve changed my life for the better or

worse. I believe in bettering the skills you are already gifted in, not reinventing new ones.

I am passionate about exploring self-sustainable housing. I am connected to this topic because

my senior year I had to design a completely self-sustained home from scratch. This project

involved a lengthy paper with a lot of research involved. It helped me understand the need to live

a green life and the need to advocate for it to become more important aspect in home building. It

is a topic I am knowledgeable about already and is a great mindset to have.
