I am not the only member of the Dixie faculty that is disappointed in the
seemingly uncaring response by the Board of Trustees to a protest of
improper discipline. Here is a sample in the form of redacted letters from
tenured professors regarding the very same method of discipline.
Letter 1: Resignation to the inevitable seems the natural course for long
term employment survival.
Dear Al,
I had an experience late last week that I said to myself, I think this is what Al feels like. I wont
go into details but I was reprimanded based on a comment from a third
party___________________. (by letter of the General Counsel)

Getting back to my first comment about feeling your pain. After stewing about it over the
weekend, I decided that the administration folks are only following the direction they feel is best
for the institution. I will be meeting with them tomorrow and taking my _____. Im sure they will
put something in my file. I also hope to discuss the efforts I made that they may not be aware
of.

making will ultimately cause more pain to you and your health than it will to anyone in this
institution or the institution itself.
Respectfully,
Our esteemed General Counsel did not do his homework. He had no idea of the background,
official status, legality, sanctions of the ______________________, nor does it appear that he
even cares. I believe he was shooting from the hip with no information.
Because of his legal letter the _____________ has had to cease and desistat a cost of
education experiences __________ to our DSU students. I just wish he would have done a little
research before he pronounced conflict of interest and fraudneither of which is at all true.
If the trustees feel that everything is under control it is quite the opposite.
Faculty are clearly concerned as evidenced by this line from a 3rd partys e-
Mail which was received today I know from first-hand accounts that there are many
frightened for their livelihoods. If I can help effect positive change, I want to.
Fear and intimidation are not ways to empower employees or to gain their
cooperation and/or teaching excellence. I part ways today after grading 2
online classes. The faculty involvement on this campus is clearly low and
situations such as this only deepen the discontent.
