PREWRITE FOR INQUIRY

1.Why does it seem like it takes an accident such as a serious car crash on a dangerous

road or a bridge collapse to occur to fix that structure in which that tragedy occurred on?

2.I chose this inquiry because one of my character strengths is helping people out. Right

now, I am working on majoring in civil engineering. Once I officially become a civil engineer, I

want to use my character strength to essentially help communities around the country with their

infrastructure such as the bridge and highways they commute on. Basically, I want to help save

the lives of commuters by helping design safer infrastructure. Why wasnt there a safer

thoroughfare built in the first place, that lives could have been spared? What I hope to get out of

this inquiry is that I want to know what hinders the process of building safer infrastructure in this

country.

3.A belief I do have about the answer to my inquiry is that I sometimes think the

government sometimes dont see a crumbling infrastructure as a big deal or that they claim there

isnt any money to fix the nations crumbling bridges and highways.
