REACTION PAPER

Watching videos about Civil Engineering makes me wonder if this is really the field for
me. As I watched another video entitled “Careers in Civil Engineering”, I became more
determined and eager to pursue my dreams to become a Professional Civil Engineer someday. Its
truly amazing how the world around us shaped by civil engineers. There are a lot of careers in
Civil Engineering. There are a lot of reasons why I chose to take Civil Engineering course. I am
happy and blessed that after watching the video, I do not regret that I took Civil Engineering
course because I am enlightened to the importance and role of Civil Engineering in our society.

Civil Engineering is widely known for the design and construction of bridges, dams, roads,
tunnels, highways, buildings, and many others. Civil Engineers have a lot of potentials to innovate,
explore and grow the changing world we live in. We often don’t realize the contributions of Civil
Engineers that improved our daily lives. Civil Engineers use their knowledge and creativity to
supervise and plan construction projects. They design structures to be functional, efficient and
durable. Roads, bridges and highways we take every day when we go to school or go to work are
present in our everyday lives. It also allows people and communities to connect together.
Buildings are very important to all the people. It gives protection to people, animals, and
everything we have. They also helped us on the ways to sustain and improved our environment.
Those are all because of the help and creation of Civil Engineers. They build and create something
that all people use in the most of their lives. They created the society and the world around us.

For me, being a Civil Engineer is not just a profession, but also a dream of my mother
who once wanted to become a civil engineer before. Due to lack of financial support, my mother
wasn’t able to reach her dreams. That is also one of the reasons why I wanted to be a civil
engineer. I know my mother will be very happy once I become an engineer because she says that
it will somehow make her feel that she also reached her dreams. I really want to be a Civil
Engineer someday. After watching the video, I don’t regret taking up BS Civil Engineering even
there are subjects that is really hard. Looking at our surroundings, the contributions of Civil
Engineering is something which is highly appreciated. I realized that the world needs Civil
Engineers because they create and transform the world we have. I want to have a lot of great
opportunities once I become a Civil Engineer. I want to be part of helping society grow and
develop our nation to become better. I am more inspired to reach my dreams. I believe that civil
engineering is the field for me. I don’t have any regrets on choosing Civil Engineering course.
