Introductory Activity -- Body Part Identification
Activity: Movement Time: 5 min Task: Place each Student near a bean bag with the bean bag on the floor. Call out a body part and then the student responds by placing their body part on the bean bag. Feedback: Encourage students to move over and around as many beanbags as possible
Fitness Development Activity Parachute Fitness
Activity: Fitness challenge Time: each for 30 sec Task: 1. Jog while holding the chute in the left hand. (music) 2. Shake the chute. (No music) 3. Slide white holding the chute with both hands. (Music) 4. Sit and perform curl-ups. (no music.) 5. Skip while singing along. (music) 6. Freeze, face the center, and stretch the chute tightly. Hold for 8-12seconds. Repeat 7. Shake the chute and jump in place. (Music) 8. Hop to the center of the chute and return. Repeat. Feedback: blow whistle when exercise is over to signal end of exercise. Lesson Focus Gymnastics Skills Activity: Tightrope Walk Time: 3 min Task: Select a line on the floor as the high wire. Pretend to be on the high wire and do various tasks with exaggerated loss and control of balance. Tasks include: riding a bicycle, juggling balls, jumping rope. Activity: Individual Stunt Time: 10 sec Task: From a standing position with hands at sides, jump upward and slap both heels with hands.
Game Activity Flowers and Wind
Activity Skill: running Time: 30 min Task: Two parallel lines about 30 ft apart. Children in two divided groups: flowers and wind. Each team gets on a line facing the other team. Flowers choose a common flower name, walk over standing close to wind. Wind team calls out flower names trying to guess the flowers name. When the wind team guesses correctly, the flowers run back to their line being chased by the wind. If caught, flowers must join the wind. Reverse the roles and play again. Clues about flower names may be given such as color, size, shape.
