Content Outline
The story of Revan is a Star Wars universe legend that has not been created into a
film, video game or radio drama before, thus making it a fresh new story. I
want to make it into a radio drama because it adds a different element of
enjoying Star Wars. I feel that the story of Revan is good enough to deserve a form of
media bringing the legend to life.
Star Wars: Revan is a story of legend, about a Jedi warrior turned sith lord
as Darth Revan. This is the second part of Revan's story as the first is told
in Jack Smiths radio drama that details his life as he battles as a Jedi in the
Mandalorian wars. My story picks up just after the previous part ends.
Revan becoming Darth Revan. My story follows Revan as he searches the
galaxy for the map that leads to the Sky forge, an unlimited source of dark
side power, which could help turn the tide of the war for evil.

Exposition
You are introduced to Darth Revan and Darth Malak, under the Emperors control. They
are sent in search of the Star maps that lead towards the Star Forge, a source of
unlimited power and energy capable of creating armies for the siths control.
Conflict
The Jedi captures Revan after a conflict in which Darth Malak betrays Revan in order to gain control of the new sith
empire. Revans memories are erased and he awakens believing himself to be a Republic solider.
Resolution
Now back as Jedi, Revan searches for the star maps that lead towards the Star Forge. At the Star Forge a final
lightsabre duel takes place between once Malaks master Revan against Revans former student, Malak.

Characters:
Revan
Renowned as The Revanchist and honoured as The Revan. Revan was a human male who played pivotal roles as both
a Jedi and a Sith lord. Believed to have been born in the Outer Rim in 3994 BBY. (Before the Battle of Yavin, Star
Wars: A New Hope) Revan has a thirst for knowledge with, normally, a good moral conscience.
Malak
Malak was a human male who reigned as a Dark Lord of the Sith during the Jedi Civil War. Born on the planet Quelii
in the Outer Rim Territories. Once a Jedi Knight Malak and Revan became close friends as fellow Jedi. Malak was
known for his incredible smarts, military genius and lust for strength and power.
Shan
Bastila Shan was a Human female who served as a Jedi Knight. She was born on the planet Talravin. Shan was found
to be incredibly gifted with the Force and later trained with the Jedi Council. Shan is good at heart and believes in
obtaining peace at all costs.

I believe Marvel should publish this radio drama because it has an incredibly unique and well thought out story that
fits into the Star Wars universe without having any effect on the current movies being released. This story takes place
in the Golden age of the Jedi, a time that is yet to be explored in media besides video games and because of that I feel
as if it would attract a huge audience who are eager for new Star Wars content as you will read about below.
Target Audience
The target audience for my production is one suited towards radio dramas. This is simply because the difference
between a film audience and a radio drama audience can differ. In my opinion, radio still holds a place in
entertainment and it is not dying, as rumour perceives. This is talked about in these
articles: https://www.forbes.com/forbes/welcome/?toURL=https://www.forbes.com/sites/hughmcintyre/2015/08/13/no-
radio-isnt-dead-in-fact-its-doing-better-than-
ever/&refURL=https://www.google.co.uk/&referrer=https://www.google.co.uk/and http://www.justmyvoice.com/Blog-
Blog/2016/1/Is-Radio-Dead-The-Truth-Behind-the-State-of-the-Radio-Industry. Radio is suited for a wide variety of
audiences with different radio stations ran by the same corporations being vastly different. An example of this is BBC
Radio 1 and BBC Radio 2, which are very different radio, shows that appeal to different audiences and demographics
however they are both ran by the BBC. BBC Radio 1 has a much younger target audience targeting teens and young
adults playing modern up to date charting music whilst BBC Radio 2 has a more mature theme playing songs that an
older audience would enjoy.

When asked what they liked about my idea, the questioners respond with how more
Star Wars content makes them happy and eager to watch the show. They also speak
about how they are fans of the story and are curious to listen with responses such as
"skyforge sounds cool" and "cool story." This is good because it means my audience is
eager to listen guaranteeing that people will listen.

All responses are positive and backup the productions creation purposes.

When asked what I could improve or add to make it a better listening experience my
audience responded greatly asking for female characters. This is a factor i am aware
wants attention and will feature important female characters within the plot.

Another responder asked for origins, these are all featured in the radio drama aired
before mine featuring how Revan became a sith lord. My radio drama will start where
the last one left off.

All improvements will be listened to and featured such as a cliffhanger ending, same
voice actors and actual Star Wars music.

Star Wars has one of the largest target audience appealing to people of all ages from young children to ageing adults
who loved the original films when they were released. However, I feel it appeals slightly more to a male audience as it
includes violence and aggressive themes. I feel that a Star Wars radio drama like my own would appeal to a niche
audience who are fans of Star Wars beyond the blockbuster movies and are into the lore and backstory of the universe.
The latest Star Wars film grossed over $700 million worldwide and was incredibly successful, especially as it is a spin
off film that does not add more to the already existing storyline as it is set in-between already existing films. This
shows that Star Wars is still very relevant and fans are desperate for new content whenever they can get it and will pay
money for the new content.

Market Competitors
Types of competition are radio dramas and sci-fi productions, one example would be Transmissions from Colony
One. Transmissions from Colony One is a radio drama set in the near future of 2057 and '2025' by Mike Walker. 2025
is another sci-fi radio drama that airs on BBC Radio 4 Extra' this is a direct competitor as it will attract a similar
audience as my radio drama. Because of this, I would need to guarantee it would attract an audience for it to be worth
investment of time and money. Another radio drama that I am also competing with would be 'Time Hops' Time Hopes
is a production about time travel, which is a sci-fi topic, also set as a radio drama, which you can hear on the 'BBC
Radio Programmes' online and 'BBC Radio 4 Extra'.

Star Wars spans across so many platforms and entertainment media however, the owners of Star Wars have never done
it in this very professionally. This is why I think it would be a great investment establishing a new Star Wars audience
especially with new Star Wars blockbuster movies coming out every year such as Star Wars: The Force Awakens,
which made $786,598,007 at the box office. (http://www.the-numbers.com/movies/franchise/Star-
Wars#tab=summary)

From the above figures, you can see that Star Wars leads in profits in almost every media platform it has its fingers in.
Therefore, I am confident that this radio drama can easily compete with the competition and become a radio drama
with a large, dedicated fanbase.

Resources
Radio dramas do not require a huge amount of resources in order to make a professional production. I would need
microphones to record the audio alongside a soundproof studio room, which is available through the college for no
cost. Microphones can be booked through the college to borrow for free also. The soundproof room will allow me to
record my actors in good quality, which I can then edit on Adobe Premiere Pro for free on my laptop or at the college.
This is all I would need to make my radio drama.

Personal Requirements
There are no travel expenses as all actors will be located at college where the studio is present to record. There are no
food expenses because the recording will take an hour at a time. Accommodation will not need to be sorted for the
actors, as the recording does not require staying away from home for more than an hour. Radio dramas do not require
props, as it is all sound and no visuals.

Cast and Crew

Revan Jason Young
Emperor Matthew Brienza
Malak Jack Smith
Shan Ellie Peer
Extras: Sam Salameh, Glyn Clements, Dan Hill
Budget
The actors would cost around 80/100 each for an hour. Considering this radio drama will feature a large quantity of
voice actors, I would put the minimum cost at 500. (http://www.edgestudio.com/archive/there-voice-over-day-rate.)
Hiring the studio should cost around 35/28.40 an hour. I am hiring it for two days so this would total 70 minimum.
Finally the writers should cost around 50/40.20 per minute written. As this drama will be a minimum of 5 minutes
long the minimum expenditure would be 250. (http://work.chron.com/standard-beginning-wage-scriptwriter-
14252.html)

Format
My radio drama will be a single play.
However, it can be played after Jacks
radio drama that provides backstory to
the characters featured in mine. My
radio drama is a continuation of the life
of Revan. There will be a prevalent
beginning, middle and end with
character progression. The start will
introduce the new Revan and Malak and their mission to locate the Star Forge. The middle consists of the pair
discovering and using the Star Forge and finally the end features the end of Darth Revan and Darth Malak. Star Wars:
Revan is a story of legend, about a Jedi warrior turned sith lord as Darth Revan. This is the second part of Revan's
story as the first is told in Jack Smiths radio drama that details his life as he battles as a Jedi in the Mandalorian wars.
My story picks up just after the previous part ends. Revan becoming Darth Revan. My story follows Revan as he
searches the galaxy for the map that leads to the Sky forge, an unlimited source of dark side power which could help
turn the tide of the war for evil.

Blurb
The story of Darth Revan and Darth Malak from the start, to the very end. Listen to the world of Star Wars like never
before!

Narrative Structure
The narrative of the radio drama will be linear. A linear narrative means there is a basic start, middle and end with
chronological development. This is in my story because it keeps suspense throughout the story on what happens at the
end and allows for big, unexpected plot moments. The keeps the audience curious making them want to continue
listening to the radio drama.
