Teotihuacan adventure

One of the most important way to keep the practice

into the English language has been the real practice,
to lose the fear and to face with an English speaker is
the best way to continue learning. That was the
reason and the main objective for our field practice in
Teotihuacan.
Last March 23, the English group A2+ went to the archeological zone with the purpose of
interview, to talk, and to get involve with English speakers.
We arrived to the zone hoping to find American, English or any English speaker, who could
answer our questions, listen the questions, practice the language and get involve with them.

When we enter the archaeological zone, we had to divide into two groups, to cover more area
at the same time, and with the intention of students could make their interviews for
themselves, without any help, getting ready to practice.

Many of them lived their first experience with a native English speaker; Nerves, fear and
endless emotions appeared, however, they overcame the challenge and began with
interviews.

Immediately, we met a group of Americans who were

out walking in Mexico, and we decided to start with
some of them, we introduce ourselves with a couple of
American people, and we started.

Very kindly, we approached and asked them to answer

some questions, they acceded without any problem, the
students denoted fear of the situation, however, they
could break the barrier of fear and they started their first
conversation with an English-speaking person.

At the end of that first interview, they wanted to continue with the questions so we started
looking for more interviewees, they felt really confident after their first experience, we walked
behind the American group and we continued.

Almost immediately, we found one interviewee who

told students that he loved Mexican culture, he loved
Tequila and Mexican music and food.

In that way, we found around 10 people, all of them

answered the questions very kindly, the students
had the opportunity to hear different types of
pronunciations, because they found people from
different nationalities, Greece, Denmark, United States among others.
Among the questions that were asked to interviewees, the following were included:

What is your name? Where are you from? What do you like from Mexico? Do you like tequila?
Do you like the Mexican food? What have you been doing in Mexico? Have you ever eaten
Mexican food? And on of the most peculiar question: What would you do if you were Mexican
for one day?

At the end of the practice, we all agreed that was an incredible experience, full of emotions,
full of practice and where we could accomplish our objective, we could practice our English
language and we face the real situations, students must have many of these activities in
which they can improve their knowledges.
