1. Choose at least 2 rubbing plates to create crayon rubbings on drawing paper (VA:Cr1.2.Kb)
2. Choose at least 2 crayon colors to work with in creating their crayon rubbings (VA:Cr1.2.Kb)
3. Display proper use of materials through individual execution or hand-over-hand execution with the teachers

SetInduction InstructionMethods
Teacher will begin by re-introducing themselves to the student they are working Direct Instruction
with. The teacher will give a quick overview of the project they will be doing with
the student today and show them an example.

The teacher will begin the lesson by giving a crayon rubbing demonstration on a Demonstration
separate sheet of paper. Individual Work w/ Teacher
The teacher will then give the student a selection of texture plates to create Assistance
rubbing.
The teacher will then give the student a choice of crayon color to work with
The teacher will then direct the student in creating their first rubbing inside the
lines of the card form.
When the student is finished with their first rubbing, the teacher will give the
student a choice of a second texture plate to work with as well as a new choice
of crayon color
The student will execute their second crayon rubbing on the opposite side of the
card form and continue to make rubbings outside of the form until they choose to
be done!
The students will have the choice to write their names with stencils or write a
message inside of the card if applicable
The teacher will assist the student in cutting out the card form and crayon
rubbings to paste onto card if created

Teacher can use hand-over-hand assistance for students who have difficulty with fine motor skills
The teacher can tape the drawing paper onto small for boards for students who feel inclined to tear up paper
The teacher can place boards on top of a friction mat to prevent students from flinging the board off their desk

Students can experiments with color-mixing by layering crayon colors a top a single plate.

Early finishers can create extra crayon rubbings outside of the card for lines to cut out and glue on top of their card form.
Teacher will assist with cutting and gluing if necessary.
