PRINCIPLES OF TEACHING

VOCABULARY
FREQUENT EXPOSURE AND REPETITION:
Students must be exposed to the new words as much as possible so
that they can learn them. The more we make them practice the
new vocabulary, the better.

MEANINGFUL PRESENTATION:
Whenever the teacher presents new vocabulary, it should be clear
and specific.

QUANTITY:
The amount of new words which are being presented cannot
exceed the maximum of words a student can learn in a class, it
means just 15 words per lesson.

PRESENTATION IN CONTEXT:
Vocabulary needs to be presented in context. Hence, most teachers
present them through appealing topics to students. Teachers must
remember that vocabulary cannot be taught in an isolated way.

INFERENCING PROCEDURES IN VOCABULARY LEARNING:

Encouraging students to get the meaning of new words from
certain situations may result an effective way to make them learn
new words, of course the material need to be appropriate for them,
thus, students wont get frustrated.

PRINCIPLES OF TEACHING

an isolated way.

The grammar structure previously taught, should be taken into
account when teaching a new structure

This refers to provide as much as possible exposure of the structure
in different situations so students can use them wherever it is
required

Involves 3 main steps:

demonstrate a situation
Practice:
Controlled - focused on the structure.
Semi Controlled-personalize the language

Free- complete freedom, experiment
