Tecnnics of teaching grammar:-

Teaching or learning grammar is done in two main stages

1. Learning meaning and form of each new structure


2. Putting it into practice

There are 10 most common tecnnics which are used in both the stages

1. Board work presentation: for a quick and easy of new language black board
is the best resource to exploit. To build a context usually examples are
stickers of places or other things or either placed on the board or written
on the board and many number of examples of tenses or structures are
derived out of these stickers.
2. Using the students and the teacher: some concepts of grammar like direct
indirect speech or imperative sentences the teacher usually uses this
formula, that means the activities carried on by means of dialogues wish
the students talk among themselves or with the teachers.
3. Using realia: it means, the objects or the activities used to class room
teaching. Bringing objects into the class room and using those objects in
teaching grammar is called using realia . for example: countable and
uncountable known’s, personal known’s and other related grammar points
of taught this way.
4. Dialogue building: it is collaborative tecnnics involving two or more
persons of students, setting scene with the help of the students and writing
dialogs on the board.
5. Dictations: when the about 4 tecnnics are used in the class the students
are make to write modal sentences using the given tecnnics and the
teacher dictates immediately the points to remember about the
grammatical structures and rules to remembered. The teacher dictates the
sentences containing verbs used with and without reflexive pronoun to
start exploring the meaning and use.
6. Dictum gloss: in it usually the teacher prepares a text or notes to dictate to
the class but instide of dictating to the students the teacher slowly reads
the text for 3 or 4 times asking the students to wri down the kee words like
known’s and verbs. Though the students cannot write every word of the
dictation but they will be complete it as much as possible. Then the teacher
ask the students to be paired or in groups and ask them to re-construct text
in complete. In this method the focus is not on reproduction of text but on
the aspects of language used.
7. Drilling: to help the students learn and pronouns the new language the
teacher makes them repeat the sentences until and unless they reach
accuracy. This practice is made to make the students learn the correct
pronunciation and learn the correct structure of the sentence. Usually the
same sentence is not given for drilling substitution of known’s pronouns
etc. are changed to get a wanted results
8. Songs: this is the most popular way of encouraging the students to repeat
structure as-well-as to make them memorable to songs. Choosing the songs
to make student learn the target language with natural stress and pattern is
the fundamental duty of the teachers. This method offers repeated exposes
to the target language the students enjoy singing and while singing learn
the stress pronunciation and grammatically correct sentences.
9. Exploiting feedback stages: getting the feedback from the students is not
to test their language skills but the objectives of teaching that is
understanding correction of errors, sharing of information, revising the
rules and to draw the conclusions is the main aim of getting the feedback.
This method makes the teachers which stage is crucial for the
understanding and learning process.
10. Error correction: the teacher should know what are the repetitive mystics
of the students and what the complex questions which the learners could
not understand. Some students are quiet and shy and they will be
benefited by the repetition of error correction method. The teacher should
encourage them to open of themselves about their errors and let them try
to learn the new language listening to the correct form of language. the
teacher should make the students to do the activity again with the
correction of common errors in their minds. For example: role plays or
group discussions are the best methods.
