Project Text Part 1

1) How do television shows interpret the characteristics on male and female character in

society? (Rephrase it)

2) The more television shows are podcast; similar story lines are being view by the same

audience creating characterizes for both genders, assuming they would believe in. These

characteristics involve having distinguished mindsets as Monroe, Judy mentions Studies

show that male and female brains are physically different.(Monroe). Males have always

demonstrated themselves having more physical ability than women while Some

scientists say this explains why females tend to outperform males verbally. (Monroe).

The verbal skills from females have earlier development which causes their verbal skills

and comprehension in literature to outperform males. On the other hand, males develop

their body to become strong as they grow up and obtain more physical pain in their lives.

Both having distinguished mentalities, what unites both genders are the physical and

emotional experiences theyve gone through whether its either the male or female being

the participant in the show.

3) As most reality shows theres always a villain trying to cause destruction towards a

family or a certain induvial that has been involve with them or their family. Usually the

villains are how people view males in society, the villain creates a character that

represents how a male should physically and emotionally feel and look, yet their

emotions are left and not shown in the show because its tend to believe that males are

always the stronger gender. Jones indicates in his studies that men should not speak

about their feelings is not always overt. . . as his client Fabio Zucchelli, 29, has had

depression since his early teenage years. (Ownes). This informs how even males at a

young age are taught to not show their feelings towards the public because it creates a

false ideal of males being ruthless. Like in the episode Green Arrow, Oliver Queen who is

the Arrow is considered as the vigilante in the show, ends up saving Felicity who

represents herself as an employee as the IT worker in Queen Cooperation and Olivers

over watch, she was in danger from one of the criminals that escaped from prison that

had already started a new processing trafficking of drugs causing innocent lives to be

effected by and ending lives. He had her hostage in the office, where Oliver took over the

family company, she lets her emotions out by crying, being scared, and confused. As

where the vigilante, Oliver, took time to change his ways of fighting criminals ended up

going back to becoming a killer as he saves Felicity but seen as the enemy.
4) Although T.V shows tend to demonstrate how male gender plays more of physicality

character during the show, while female characters are more of a sensitive and more

emotional, it has set a standard to the public on how genders view one another base on

their characteristics. T.V shows have created a fundamental towards the role of male and

female. Television shows are setting standards on the behavior of genders. Expecting

males to do the more physical work and having to look like an athlete, looking muscular

and fearful. While this is occurring, the female genders are represented as a weak

character having no power over the male gender besides obtaining more knowledge and

comprehension from men. Losing sight from reality, being either male or female doesnt

mean all characteristics apply just to one gender but to both.

5) Even so, there are T.V shows where the female character plays the roles of male

character. This is because most shows have similar follow ups, having the same story

line, its been represented that women are always a weaker character than the male. The
Flores 3

male does more of a physical aspect and having a stronger look, while females represent

themselves through their intelligence and comprehension of their knowledge. This has

caused a confusion in society, which has manipulated them in creating essentials on how,

themselves, should look like in a males and females body and have characteristics as seen

on television.
6) Some concerns that people might have about this is that not all television shows

demonstrate the male being a powerful character but the female over taking their

position. Also, it contradicts the female characteristics and emotions since majority of

humans share similar emotions among each other such as being glad, sad, anger, or

depress. All these emotions are commonly viewed in both genders despite their relation

status. There no hesitation a woman could play the role a male because we have seen it in

marriages, jobs, relationships where the male is being over powered by the opposite
gender.
