Evaluate a response to a brief you have been given

Negotiating the brief

In this assignment, I will be evaluating how I responded to the briefs I looked at
in the chosen Units.
Unit 34 Assignment 2
This is the first brief that I looked at, analysed, and will be evaluating in this
assignment.
Consultation with client-
I cannot write about this as I was absent on the day
of the client meeting.
Amendments and edits to final product-
When I was creating m y product, I kept an up to
date log of a diary so that I could show my client
how I did this work and help me keep track of where
I was up to. It was important to do a lot of planning
and designing before I had begun to create this as it
would be hard to adjust afterwards. Due to time and
meeting the deadline, I was unable to change any
parts of the animation, but was happy with what I
had produced. I took into account the clients
requirements and tried to cover all of the requests.
Feedback from peers/questionnaires-
After the product was completed, it was important to
gather feedback from peers to see whether the ani
mation was aesthetically suitable for its purpose. I conducted some feedback by
creating a questionnaire in order to collect the opinions of my
peers. The questions had to relate to the product and ones that
would collect the best feedback so I designed them around that. I
have included a screenshot so you can see the questions I asked. I
printed 10 questionnaires out and let peers view my animation
and then answer with their personal opinion. I then created a
statistical analysis where I made some pie charts of the results I
received and analysed the answers. I think this was important for
me to do as it allowed me to gather a range of opinions and let
me evaluate my work much easier.
Legal and Ethical consideration and codes
of practice-
When it came to
creating my product, I had to create a Legal and Ethical
document that stated all of the law boundaries and
requirements I had to consider when doing this. The
legal and ethical side of this assignment meant I could
look at the law enforcements rules. I could ensure that I
did not breach any laws or regulations and that none of
my work was copyright protected. This was a good way
of learning more about the concept of copyright and
breaching the law, to ensure that I did not do this in my
assignment. I looked through this a lot during the
production of my assignment to help me when
collecting assets etc.

Unit 54 Assignment 2
This is another unit that I looked at and analysed the
brief when completing the assignment.
Consultation with the client-
As I had stated in Assignment 1, I had to conduct a meeting with my client in
order to collect requirements and personal preferences for the task. I started by
reviewing the brief well to ensure I would complete all the tasks it asked for. The
purpose of the client meeting was to gather their ideas and make a list of
everything I had to include in the
product. When it came to creating my
product, any ideas that I had during this
time I had to consult the client in order
to ask for their opinion and approval
before I went ahead and included it. I
have included a screenshot of the client
meeting that was conducted and my
notes on this. You can see how I took
down the clients ideas in order to be
sure I included them into the product. I
used this throughout the assignment to
check I was adding everything the client
wished, so this helped me a lot.

Amendments and edits to final product-

When I created the work, I wanted to stick to a plan so I could complete each
task and stay on track so I used the brief to keep up to date. When I created the
graphics, I used Photoshop and kept an up to date diary so that my client knew
what I had done and how much work I had completed. The diary also helped me
keep a note of dates, things I did in the lesson, aims of the lesson, and targets
for next time. I feel this was professional and a suitable thing to do, as I felt more
organised in my work. It made it easier to know what I needed to do next which
made the deadlines less stressful when it came to handing work in. I feel like I
got more experience using Photoshop, as I had to work on this a lot through the
assignment and let me learn more skills. After these tasks, I completed in order
to produce the product I reviewed it and looked if there was anything I wanted to
change. When I produced my work, I knew the band did not actually exist, but I
had to create as though they did. Where I feel like I could have improve is that I
should have not looked at other bands of the same general agenda as it caused
me to change my mind a lot when working. Overall, I do feel happy with the way
my graphics worked out as the colours and general look works for the genre of
the band but maybe if I had chance I would spend some more time designing
them to be a higher standard. I designed a few storyboards for a CD cover and
how I could advertise the band well and help it to stand out to the audience. I
finally settled on a final design of the drum set. I did not make any actual
changes to the product when I created it, as this would have been too difficult to
do as it was on a software.
Feedback from peers/questionnaires-
I cannot write about feedback and questionnaires, as
this was not a requirement that was on the brief in
this assignment.
Legal and Ethical consideration and codes of practice-
When it came to creating my
product, I did not have to
create a legal and ethical
document that stated all of
the law boundaries and
requirements I had to consider
when doing this. The legal and
ethical side of this assignment
meant I could look at the law
enforcements rules. I could ensure that I did not
breach any laws or regulations and that none of my
work was copyright protected. This was a good way of
learning more about the concept of copyright and
breaching the law, to ensure that I did not do this in
my assignment. I looked through this a lot during the
production of my assignment to help me when
collecting assets etc.
Opportunities
In this section, I will talk about the self-development skills I gained and how I
knew to improve for next time.

Unit 34 Assignment 2
In this assignment brief, I was asked to evaluate my work by writing a detailed
evaluation to discuss my work and how I felt I did. I wrote four pages in this
evaluation where I talked about each part of my work and what I felt could have
done better etc. I discussed the target audience, genre, software, aesthetic
quality and so on. I feel in the evaluation it allowed me to look back on how I
created the product and the level of work, which I was working at. For future
reference and in other assignments similar to this I gained experience working
with software and under pressure. I analysed the way I worked and the quality to
which my product was produced so I could see how I could improve for next time.
It also development my personal skills on the computer and working with
different softwares to create products so the evaluation helped evaluate the way
I work. I have included a screenshot of my evaluation here which you can see
and look at how I reviewed my work and explained it in detail, using images to
illustrate. In this animation I feel I could have added some more detail to my
animation in the way I staged it. The final length
was expected to be 30 seconds long and due to
time, I did not complete this therefore I was
disappointed in myself for this. I also did not have
voice-overs due to time so right now; the animation
appears very basic and boring and would not appeal
to the target audience. My girl character could have
been animated better with more movement and
expressions as I feel I rushed it when creating my
characters as I spent most of the time doing the
fruit. This evaluation was a good idea as I could
review my work and learn what I needed to improve.
Unit 54 Assignment 2
When I first receive an assignment, I always look at
the brief so I am clear on what tasks I will be doing
and what time I have. This allows me to decide how
long I have to do each piece of work and the
standard I should have it to. I was given the job to
create a cd cover and poster for the pixels band. This
includes the scenario, and to read this allows me to
imagine I am in the position as if it were real life and
I am creating this for an actual band. Ideally, I would
of liked a distinction for this task but I was happy
with the grade I achieved. Using the brief helped me
when doing work therefore when I did this
assignment, I used it to look back and check I
covered the range. There was a few tasks to
complete, including the design of a logo, cd cover
and poster, which I first created on paper to plan it.
This Unit was split into a few assignments, meaning
one was more productive with the creation of my
assets and another was theory based. I think this is
important as I can look at the way I created a product and take on board
improvements I could of made. This would be helpful for my next assignments
creating products similar to this as I would have experience in the software.

Skills-
This is a PowerPoint I wrote on employer expectations and you can see here I
covered the range in this.
