ACT I
Introduction
It is a Friday afternoon,and Lukas is sitting in detention.He is in
the detention with five other kids:Jake,his friend who got caught
with a uniform violation;Maria,who was texting during class;Jessica,
who had detention for texting during a test;Jade,who had detention
for being late to class three times that week;and Mark,who was caught
apparently cheating on a test.Lukas was there for a uniform violation
with Jake,but besides Jake,Lukas did not know anyone else there.Maria
knew Jessica from a class last year,but Jade and Mark did not know
who anyone else was.All six of the students wanted to get the
detention over with and get home.The detention/discipline supervisor,
Mr.Jones,is in the room to make sure that the students stay quiet and
behave.The six students sit quietly until Mr.Jones takes a phone call
and leaves the room.They all begin to question why he left and they
begin walking around,talking to people they know,and playing around
with the equipment in the room(Video Production room).

Scene I
Lukas looks up at the clock: 4:30.He sits back in his chair and looks
around the room.Jake is sitting across the room,and he starts
signaling him.Mr.Jones,the detention supervisor,sees Lukas.

Mr.Jones
Excuse me,you in the back.Im going to ask you once:Stop!

Lukas stops and looks around the room and up at the clock: 4:33.

Lukas
(Raises hand)
Mr.Jones
Yes?
Lukas
Can I go to the bathroom?
Mr.Jones
No.

Lukas looks around and at Jake. They exchange facial expressions.

Lukas
(Raises hand)

 Mr.Jones
What?
Lukas
MAY I PLEASE go to the bathroom?
Mr.Jones
No, you MAY not.

Lukas looks back at Jake, who again exchange expressions.Mr.Jones

looks back down at his paper and looks back up again.

Mr.Jones
You are all here for some reason that I dont need to know and I
dont care.All I know is that I got a phone call saying that this
detention had to be done today.I want to go home too just so you guys
are aware.

Mr. Jones looks back down at his papers.Lukas looks back at Jake.They
had been busted the day before for a uniform violation.They were
supposed to serve the detention on Monday,but Mr.Jones said it had to
be done today.
As Lukas goes to look down at his phone,he hears a phone ringing.Mr.
Jones looks at his phone and answers it.

Mr.Jones
Hello...Yes...Yes...I can...Yup...Ok...Yes, bye.

Mr.Jones gets up,collects all of his things,and leaves the room.Lukas

and the five other kids look up from what they were doing and look to
the door.Mr.Jones just left,and they were in the room by themselves.
Lukas gets up and goes over by Jake.Maria gets up and goes over by
Jessica,whom she had known from class,and Jade and Mark stood up and
started walking around the room.Jake and Lukas begin to open up
cabinets and take out the cameras and other equipment in the room,
while Maria and Jessica talk and Jade and Mark walk around and
examine the room.

Act II
Scene I
Lukas
(Picks up a camera bag and takes out a camera)
Dude,come over here.Check..this..out.

Lukas pulls out a camera,turns it on,and starts video taping.

Lukas
Why did we not take this class?
Jake
Woah.Let me see.
Lukas
(Pans the room with the camera and spots Maria)
Wait,wait,wait.One sec.(Lukas zooms in on Maria)
Who is that girl?
Jake
Her name is Maria,I think.She was in one of my classes last year.
Lukas
She is really pretty.I gotta go talk to her.
Jake
Wait...what happened to that other girl?You were with her when school
ended...
Lukas
Yeah.It didnt work out.
Jake
Ohhh.Well,I guess you got nothing holding you back then.
Lukas
Yeah,I guess not.
Jake
Well,you gonna to talk to her?
Lukas
Nah,Ill see her around.Lets just chill for the rest of the day.

Scene II
Soon,an hour goes by,and Mr.Jones has still not returned.The six
students decide that they are going to just leave without him telling
them too.

Lukas
(Sitting on his phone next to Jake)
Hey dude.Its 5:25.We finish at 5:30,right?

 Jake
Yeah,5:30.
Lukas
Ok,so where is this dude.Hes gotta let us leave.
Jake
I dont know.Hes been gone for like an hour.
Lukas
Yeah.So,do we just leave then?
Jake
I guess so

Lukas and Jake collect their things and make their way to the door.
Maria,Jessica,Jade,and Mark see them and do the same.Soon,all six of
them are standing outside the door.

Lukas
Alright guys.I guess Ill see you all around.Lets go Jake.
(Goes to open the door.It doenst open)
What the heck
(Begins to pull harder,push back and forth at the door)
Its.Its locked
Jake
Here,let me try.
(Jake tries,but the door does not budge)
Uhhh.I think he locked us in here.

Seconds later,the lights go out.

Maria
Umm.what just happened.
Lukas
I think they shut down the power.
Maria
Ohh no.
Jessica
Uhh.are there any other doors that we could get out.
Lukas
I dont think so, but I guess we have no other choice but to check.

The six students begin to go over the room and look for another exit.

Lukas
I got nothing.

 Jake,Jessica,Maria (Back-to-Back-to-Back)
Same.
Lukas
Ok,uhh.Is there any connection.
Maria
Let me try.

Maria pulls out her phone and tries to connect to a server.Mark walks
into a room full of computers and also tries to see if the computers
still work.

Maria
Yeah,Im not getting anything.
Mark
(From inside the room) I got nothin,too.
Lukas
Ok,so I guess we have no choice but to wait then.Uhh.anybody have
any food or water.
Jake,Maria,Jade,Jessica,Mark (In order)
No.
Lukas
Ok.If we cant get out,we have to wait for someone to come.In the
meantime,we have to find some food and water because I really doubt
anyone will come for us anytime soon.There has to be something in one
of these rooms.

The six begin to search the room for necessary materials.

Scene III
Jake
Im getting hungry. I still cant text my parents I have no
connection.
Maria
Jess and I have some water bottles from lunch.
Jade
Here,I got a bag of chips that I didnt eat for lunch today.
Lukas
Alright,I think we are good for now.We checked Mr. Jones
refrigerator right?

The six get chairs and place them around in a circle.They put all the
food and water on a table.It is about 8:00,and Jake passes snacks out
to everyone,and he gives Maria a peanut butter bar,and she doesnt

notice.Maria,who is allergic to peanuts,grabs a bar and starts eating
it.A few seconds later,she looks down at the wrapper and reads the
label.

Maria
Ohh no.
Lukas
Whats wrong
Maria
Peanuts.
Lukas
Peanuts?
Maria
Im allergic to peanuts.

Everyone looks at her with concern.

Maria
Lukas,my backpack is behind you.It has the pills that I need to take
that will delay when I start to get symptoms and help me breathe
until I get my epi-pen.

Lukas picks up her bag and begins to look through it.He pulls out a
small,round bottle.

Lukas
Alright,is this is it: Diphenhyd.?
Maria
Just give it to me!

Maria takes the bottle from Lukas and takes a benedryl to help her
breathe until she gets her epi-pen.

Maria
I need to get my epipen.This is going to wear off soon,and I can only
take a certain amount of benadryl.
Lukas
Jake,lets go.We have to find a way out of here.
Jake
Yeah,yeah.Lets go.

Lukas,Jake,and Mark go and frantically try to find a way out.Jessica
and Jade stay with Maria to make sure that she is ok.Every so often,
Lukas stops in to check and make sure that Maria is ok.
Scene IV
Lukas
Ok.Maria just took her last dose.If she takes any more pills,shes
gonna have an overdose and we will be in more trouble than we already
are.
Jake
Dude,I dont know what else we can do.But I do know one thing:you
like her.
Lukas
I mean,I know shes in danger and Im scared.I dont want anything
bad to happen.
Mark
Yeah,and you like her.
Lukas
Ok.Maybe I like her,but we have more important problems.
Jake
Bro,there is no way to get out of here,our phones have no service,and
Im getting really tired.Our best bet is to just get some sleep and
wait till the morning.
Mark
Yeah,I feel like that is our best option.
Lukas
Ok, I guess so.

Jake,Lukas,and Mark walk back into the room where the three girls are
seated.

Jake
Ok guys.We have no way out of here,so we have decided that our best
option is to try and get some sleep and then try and see what we can
do in the morning.Hopefully,someone will come through the school
tomorrow and we can try to get their attention.But for now,we have no
chance at getting anyone to come.

Maria,Jessica,and Jade nod and agree that some sleep wouldnt hurt.

Scene V
Jake,Maria,Jade,Jessica,and Mark all fall asleep,but Lukas stays
awake.He eats power bars,drinks some water,walks around the room,and

continuously looks at Maria to make sure that she is still ok.Maria
wakes up,sees Lukas awake,and talks to him.

Maria
(wakes up)
Hey.Lukas,youre awake?
Lukas
Yeah,I cant sleep.To much is on my mind.
Maria
Hey,everything is going to be ok.
Lukas
I dont know.Like,what if no one comes for us and we are stuck here
until Monday,or we run out of food and water,or if this place is
haunted,or if we cant get you to safety,or if.
Maria
Lukas,Im gonna be fine.You dont have to worry.
Lukas
I know,its just that I.(pause)
Maria
Its just that you what.
Lukas
I uhh.nothing,nothing.
Maria
Lukas,I will be ok you dont have to worry.
(Long Pause)
Maria
And haunted?Really? (sarcastically)
Lukas
I mean.you never know.
(Both Laugh(Softly))
I just dont want anything bad to happen to you.
Maria
Lukas,Im gonna be ok you dont have to worry.
(Lukas sighs)
Ok well.I think the best thing we can do is get some sleep.
Lukas
Yeah,I uhI guess.

Scene VI
Maria goes back to sleep,but Lukas cant sleep.He stays awake and
lays down next to Maria for a few minutes.Once she falls asleep,he
decides to walk around in the big room where the rest arent

sleeping.He pulls up a chair by a set of windows and he sits down and
pulls out his cellphone and checks for service.The bar tries to
connect but,just like it had earlier that day,doesnt.He turns off
the phone and sets it down on the table in front of him.As he leans
back in his chair,the phone lights up.Lukas stairs at it until the
light goes off.He then picks it up,unlocks it,and sees that he has
connection.

Lukas
Hey!Hey!Guys come here!Guys I have connection!

Jake and Mark run around the corner towards him,and Jade and Jessica
follow them.

Jessica
What happened?
Lukas
I have connection!
Jade
Well,call for help!
Lukas
Whats the number for security.
Mark
76-555-24.
Lukas
Ok.
(Lukas dials security)
Hello?Yes,yes,yes.Hi,my name is Lukas.Im here in room.what room
are we in?
Jade
Uhhh.D108
Lukas
Im here in room D108.Me and my friends got locked in here!Can you
please send us help!Yes.thank,thank you so much. (Hangs up phone)
Guys hes on the way.
Jake
Yes!
Jessica
Yes! (relieved)

Within seconds,someone is at the door.

Scene VII

 Lukas
I think thats him!

Jessica,Jake,Mark,and Jade follow Lukas to the door.As they walk

throught the narrow hallway,the handle turns and the door opens.

Security Guard
Hello.Im here for a Lukas.
Lukas
Yes,yes!Thats me!

The security guard looks at the five students.

Security Guard
How did you guys end up here.
Jake
We had detention,and the teacher just left and locked the door.We
have been here all night.
Security Guard
Ok guys,just pack up your things and we can go to the guard stand and
call your parents.
Lukas
Wait.We have to get Maria to the hospital or at least to the nurse
to get her epi-pen.Shes allergic to peanuts and she accidently ate a
peanut butter power bar.
Security Guard
Ok,where is she?
Lukas
Shes in the room.

The five students lead the security guard into the room.It is dark
and quiet.

Lukas
Hey!Maria!Help came come on we are gonna take you to the hospital!

(No answer)

Lukas
Maria!?
Jessica
Maria!? (worry)

They walk up to her and see her lying where she had been after she
had talked to Lukas.

Lukas
Maria? (Worry in his voice)
Security Guard
Miss?Miss do you hear me?
(They all gather around her as the security guard checks her pulse)
Security Guard
She looks pale and her pulse is very slow.
Jessica
What?
Security Guard
I believe she passed out.Let me call for help.
Lukas
What!? (Begins to panic)
Security Guard
(Takes out radio) This is Officer Williams.I have a student in need
of medical attention.I need backup and an ambulance stat. Room D108.
Security Guard #2
(Over the radio) Roger that.
Security Guard
(Puts down radio) Ok guys,I need you all to stay calm.
Lukas
How can we possibly stay calm!Shes in serious danger!
Security Guard
Help is on the way.please stay calm.

Lukas sits down and puts his head in his hands.He stays exactly where
he is as security guards and medical personnel help Maria. (Lukas
hallucinates: Memories go through his head about earlier that day and
scenes of the security guards and medical personnel helping Maria.)
The Medical Personnel gets Maria rushed to the hospital.

Act III
Scene I
Maria wakes up in an empty room.She looks around and scans the
room,confused.She then looks outside and hears people approaching the
door.Lukas comes to the door with a nurse.The nurse comes into the
room,picks up a tray,and leaves the room.Lukas watches her leave and
looks at Maria.

Lukas
Hey,your awake.
Maria
Yeah,what time is it?
Lukas

Maria
12 noon?
Lukas
Yeah
Maria
Wait,what happened?How did I end up here?
Lukas
Well,we finally got service on our phones and we called for
help.Security guards came, and when we went to wake you up and bring
you to the hospital,you didnt wake up.We called 911 and the EMTs
came and rushed you here.
Maria
Ohhh.wow!The last thing I remember is talking to you and going to
sleep.
Lukas
Yeah.Its all ok though.You are safe now.
Maria
Yeah.Thank you Lukas.
Lukas
For what?
Maria
(Long pause) For caring for me so much.
Lukas
Ahhh.No problem.

(Pause) Hey uhh.Im going to a party tonight with some friendsI was
wondering if you uhh,if you wanted.
Maria
Id love to come..
Lukas
Ok sweet.Let me uhh.Let me go tell the doctor youre awake.He told
me to tell him when you get up so they can take an overview and
hopefully release you.Ill get your parents too.Theyre outside.
Maria
Ok.
Lukas
Im gonna head home too.Ill call you later about the party.
Maria
Ok.
(Lukas is about to leave the room) Wait,Lukas!
Lukas
Yeah.
Maria
Thanks again.
Lukas
It is the least I can do.
(He walks out of the door,but turns and comes back)
Ill call you later.
Maria
Ill be waiting.
(Both smile)

Lukas leaves the room,and Maria is left alone.She looks around and
sighs. (The camera pans off Maria and onto the wall.The end)
