fine. Light surface pitting. Mellow patina to ivory. Pre-1900. The Thomas
Renshaw firm was established c. 1840.

Lot 2017 German Silver Crossguard 5-inch clipped point locking blade, with Nobson
on ricasso. Length, 6 1/4-inches Overall length when opened, 10 15/16-inches.
Relief embellished German silver crossguard, the horn grip panels with
mother-of-pearl inlays on one side and matching pearl pommel plates. Civil
War era.Very good to fine. Scattered pitting on steel, with gray patina to
tang. Mars to one of German silver quillons.

Knife together with Signed and Numbered Copy of Sheffield Exhibition
Knives Book, No 17 of 1300. One of the Finest Knives by George Lot 2127
Wostenholm and Son, circa 1850. An exhibition sports lockback knife
that is 5 1/8 inches long. It has the following pieces; a master fancy
worked back spear blade with a long pull, and fully etched G.
Wostenholm & Son IXL Sheffield, a fish scaler and hook disgorger, a file
blade, a spey blade, a compass, a triangular leather punch, a buttonhook,
a fleam, a leather sewing blade, a hacksaw with blade, a wine cork
remover, a chisel blade, an awl, two pen blades, a clip blade, a fancy man-
icure blade, and a corkscrew. It has the following pull-out pieces; twee-
zers with a lancet inside, scissors, a fly fishermans leader tweezers, and
a pipe cleaner. The grip scales are perfect tortoiseshell. The fancy bol-
sters are sterling silver fully engraved. Even the parts to the pull-out
implements, which are hidden under the handles, are engraved so that it
is difficult to notice these tools. The backs of the blades are fancy file-
worked as are the insides of the springs and the brass liners. This knife Lot 2128
is almost 1 3/8 inches thick, nine springs across, and about 1 1/2 inches
deep from the back springs to the tops of the blades. The knife was 2128
chosen for the prestigious cover illustration of the book Sheffield Fine Elegant Deluxe Spearpoint Bowie Knife by Wilkinson of London
