Cold by Emily Anderson

The wind wraps itself around my face,

stings me
like needles through my entire body.
The same feeling I had when you left me.

A single drop of blood falls from my finger,

as the thorn of a beautiful rose stabs into me.
A beautiful rose that was once mine.

Saying I'm fine again would be a lie,

the thought of you still crosses my mind daily.
How you held me as tight...
as wind that wrapped around my face
on that bitter cold day

My mother always told me,

"Everyday's a new one."
I spent every night alone in my bed,
tears escaping my eyes like an infinite flowing river
waiting for you to come back.
You never did.
