Assignment Problems on Approximate Analysis of Frame for lateral load.

1. Determine by approximate methods the forces acting in the members of


the Warren portal shown in the figure

2. Determine (approximately) the force in members GF, GK, and JK of the portal frame. Also
find the reactions at the fixed column supports A and B. Assume all members of the truss
to be connected at their ends. Also draw the SFD and BMD curve of the columns.

3. Determine (approximately) the reactions at the base of the columns of the


frame shown. The columns are assumed to have equal cross sectional
areas. Use the cantilever method of analysis.
