Evidence of Injury
Wounded Neck:
The wound of the neck is a gaping incision exposing the larynx and cervical
vertebral column. The wound measures 5.5 inches x 2.5 inches in length and is at
the superior border of the larynx. The edges of the incision are smooth. The
intramuscular hemorrhage, fresh, dark red purple, is evident. Depth of penetration
is unknown as the length of the wound is greater than depth.
Opinion: This is a fatal wound causing significant blood loss associated with the
left and right carotid arteries.
Multiple Stab Wounds:
There are four stab wounds on the left side on the neck and others on the scalp:
1. This incision overlaps the incision of the wounded neck described above. The
vertically oriented wound measures 5/8th inches in length, and is penetrated
through the skin, subcutaneous tissue and muscle. Injury to the internal
jugular vein or common carotid artery cannot be excluded.
2. This wound is a 1/8th inch slit into the skin on the left side of the neck.
3. Diagonally oriented stab wound on the left side of the neck measuring inch
in length.
4. Stab wound on the left side of the neck that was diagonally oriented and
measured 7/8th inches in length.
5. Stab wound on the scalp that is diagonally oriented and measures 1 inches
in length.
6. Cutting or stab wound of the scalp. The wound measures 3/16th inches in
length and involves the skin only.
7. Blunt force injury to the head. On the right side on the scalp, there is a bruise
four inches above the right external auditory canal.

- Left Hand: Red-Brown color punctuate abrasion at the base of the ringer
finger on the left hand. There is a inch cut diagonally cut at the top of the
left hand.

Head-Central Nervous System:
The external injuries to the scalp have been described above. A small, red-brown
colored, abrasion appears above the right eyebrow measuring 3/8th x 1/4th inch.
The spinal cord has been dissected with no force of sharp force injury.
