Chapter 1 Introduction

The AmpliTube Custom Shop is an entirely new shopping experience for

software plug-ins that is like visiting a real guitar store, only one that is

Begin the construction of your own custom AmpliTube rig by simply install-
ing the AmpliTube 3 FREE version which comes with 24 included gear
models. AmpliTube 3 FREE is available upon registration as a free download
from the IK Multimedia web site. Just like AmpliTube 3, the Custom Shop
works with both the DAW plug-in version and the standalone version.

You can also choose to use PayPal to buy Credit Packs. In this case, you will
be redirected to the PayPal main page to login with your PayPal account
info. If you dont have a PayPal account yet, you will have the opportunity to
create one by following the on-screen instructions.

Chapter 5 Buying Gear

As you can see, each of the dozens of available gear models listed in the
various categories (stomps, amps, speaker cabinets, microphones, rack
effects) has their own price shown in credits together with a description of
the model.

You can select and buy the items you want, and you are limited only by the
total amount of credits in your profile. Buying gear is actually quite simple.
Just click the BUY button beside the selected item (figure 5.1) and confirm in
the subsequent yellow window (figure 5.2).

Chapter 6 Trying Gear

You can also choose to try out a piece of gear before buying it by clicking the
TRY button (figure 6.1).

figure 6.1

The Custom Shop will ask you to confirm your trial in the subsequent yellow
window (figure 6.2).

figure 6.2

6 - Trying Gear 27
AmpliTube Custom Shop

Check out all the models that youre interested in within your existing rig
to see how they work for you. Every item in the Custom Shop has its own
independent 48-hour trial period.

Once the trial time has expired, the item will become locked. The model you
tried will become grayed out, and a closed lock icon will appear beside its
name in the gear menu making it unusable. The item will be available for
another 48-hour trial once two months have passed from the previous trial
unless you decide to buy it first, of course!

NOTE: You must have the Custom Shop window open in order to try out the
various gear models. If the Custom Shop window is not open, the gear model
will emit a noise every few seconds. This is only the case for models that you
are trying out. Once you have purchased a gear model, you do not need to
have the Custom Shop window open.

You are able to monitor the time left in your trial period. The time remaining
appears to the right of the model name in the AmpliTube menu (figure 6.3).

figure 6.3

28 6 - Trying Gear
AmpliTube Custom Shop

Back in the Custom Shop, you can see all of the gear you have purchased
along with everything you are currently trying out in the MY GEAR section
(figure 6.4).

figure 6.4

NOTE: Using multiple instances of the same item will not affect the total
time of the trial period. The counter starts with the first one you try.

Chapter 7 Restoring Purchased Gear

If you have upgraded you computer hardware or OS, or if you are work-
ing with a dual setup (desktop, laptop), you may need to have AmpliTube
Custom Shop installed on more than one computer. Since the Custom Shop
is web based, it is easy to quickly recover all of your purchased gear for your
new system. Just click the Restore My Gear option in the ACCOUNT menu
(figure 7.1).

figure 7.1

Then all of your gear will be immediately loaded back into the AmpliTube
plug-in and standalone application.

Chapter 8 Integration with previous IK Products

Amplitube 3 FREE is fully compatible with other IK Multimedia Powered by

AmpliTube products including Amplitube 3, AmpliTube Fender, Ampeg
SVX, AmpliTube Metal, AmpliTube Jimi Hendrix and AmpliTube 2.

In order to integrate your previous Powered by AmpliTube products with

AmpliTube 3 Custom Shop, you must login to the Custom Shop and click
Restore My Gear from the ACCOUNT menu. The ability to restore gear is
based on the products you have registered in your IK user area. Always be
sure to use the same login information so that all of your IK products remain
in sync.

NOTE: You MUST have an active Internet connection to use the Custom
Shop since the Custom Shop is web based. You can use the latest version of
AmpliTube without an Internet connection, but you will not be able to access
the Custom Shop including the Restore My Gear function. If you like, you can
connect to the Internet just to browse and buy gear models in the Custom
Shop. Once purchased, the models will continue to work inside AmpliTube
even without being connected to the Internet. However, in order to try new
gear models, you must be connected to the Internet at all times.
