To Whom It May Concern:

13 million. 13 million scared people with no place to accept them, 13 million families whose lives are in
the hands of others, 13 million that have experienced a terrible, war torn place they once called home. No
one wants to take them, not the UK, the US, or anyone powerful from the EU. They all took minimalistic
refugees while countries like Greece for example, have had an overflow of refugees which definitely is
not helping their current economic problems but instead adds on to the entropy of the country. We the
powerful countries need to stop avoiding the elephant in the room and start to figure out how to solve this
global crisis. My name is David and I am a sophomore, I go to Antelope High school and was informed
about the syrian crisis. Once I have heard about, I thought why the US was not helping so I have decided
to write a letter to the government to tell them on how I feel about it.

Land of the Free and Home of the Brave. Its hard to say that about the current America we have now.
How are we brave if we, the most powerful country in existence, are afraid of these people, the refugees.
American media needs to make one thing clear; the Islamic State is actually weak. It is not said enough
in the mighty US that we are fighting them off. Most people are scared of refugees because they think that
they are terrorist. If the population of the US knew what was really happening, it would change the minds
of many; it would free us from the thought of a terror attack that may be lurking around the corner.

The Holocaust. Let's think back to the time when we were faced with the same problem in WWII. Before
the horrors of the concentration camps were put into action, Hitler himself said to all the countries in the
world that they could take as many Jews as they wanted, no resistance from Germany. No Jews were
taken by the U.S. After the war was over, the United States wishes they could have taken the opportunity
to save as many Jewish lives as they could have. Looking back at this situation with hindsight, we would
have saved so many and the reward would be so great but that is simply not the case because no one was
thinking of the future and how it could affect us. Instead politicians were concerned with the present and
yes I fully understand that America was going through an economic crisis and was on the verge of going
into war, but is it so hard to bring over a few hundred thousand refugees that simply wanted to survive an
abomination of human atrocity?

To end off with, I think that the current laws that are put in against the Syrian refugees are too harsh. I
think that we should let more refugees be able to come in but even more so a lot more security because
there are bad people trying to sneak their way into this country and hit us with an attack. Another
alternative could be to keep all the refugees in one livable area away from populated areas and just watch
guard them. Either way the correct thing to do would help out these people until this catastrophe is over
and not look back and think, why did we not help.

Sincerely,

David Giy
