2 Resetting the EPA07 Diesel Particulate Filter Ash Accumulators

2 Resetting the EPA07 Diesel Particulate Filter Ash Accumulators

This service routine synchronizes the ash volume between the Common Powertrain Controller (CPC) and the MCM and resets
the Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC)/Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) temperature accumulators.
When installing a cleaned or remanufactured filter, Go to step 1.
When installing a new filter due to failure, Go to step 1.
When replacing an MCM (DDRS Only), Go to step 7.
To carry out a DPF Ash Accumulator synchronization:
1. Choose Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) ash accumulator from the Actions menu to display the DPF ash accumulator dialog
box. Once the routine has been executed, a status message will be displayed in the Progress box at the bottom of the dialog
box.

2. Select the appropriate radio button option from "Why does the ash accumulation distance need changing?"
a. If you chose "Clean or remanufactured filter installation" or "New filter installation due to failure," Go to step 4.
b. If you chose "MCM replacement" (DDRS only), Go to step 7.
3. To synchronize the ash accumulation distance between the CPC and the MCM when a cleaned, remanufactured or new
filter has been installed, enter the serial number of the new or remanufactured DPF unit installed on the vehicle.

4. Click on Set Ash Accumulation Distance.

5. A message will be displayed asking you to verify that the information provided is correct.

6. If the information is correct, click on Yes to continue or No to go back and make changes. Once the routine has been
executed, a status message will be displayed in the Progress box at the bottom of the dialog box.

NOTE: When you choose MCM Replacement in the DPF Ash Accumulator dialog box, the controls displayed in the
dialog box depend on the ash distance reported for the MCM.

7. If you are replacing the MCM (DDRS only), the ash accumulation distance must be synchronized with the CPC.
a. If the MCM has an ash distance of 0, you can choose between inputting the mileage manually or by copying the
value from the CPC. Additional controls are available when the reported ash distance is 0. This is outlined in red in
the illustration.

b. If the MCM ash distance is greater than 0, the value will be copied automatically from the CPC2 and there is no
option to enter a new mileage.
