Summary of the Event (at least 3 major points; each point will have its own paragraph)
A. Fidels ashes were placed in a granite monasolum on a Sunday morning. There
was a small little ceremony held that his family could attend if they pleased. Not
just his family attended there was a handful of Latin American and African
leaders that attended the ceremony. The ceremony was three minutes long and
was held at Santiago de Cuba.
B. The whole town was sad and unhappy that their leader passed away. So when
there was a private funeral service going on the people were going crazy. They
were standing on rooftops and lined the roads to catch a glimpse of Castros
remains. On saturday morning the people did the same thing when the remains
was being taken to the cemetery.
C. Fidel lead a group of about 150 rebels who attacked the Moncada military
barracks in 1953. They attacked the military in Santiago and were unsuccessful to
overthrow the dictator. On January 1,1959 Castro launched another revolt and
declared victory.
Your Opinion of the Event (at least 3 sentences).
My opinion on what happened is that of course it is sad that people have to go through
that they have lost someone. Personally I think that his ashes were released in a good
reasonable place. The fact that his brother is stepping up and filling in for Fidel is a big
responsibility but is also honorable.

Relate your Event to a Historical Event (compare and contrast with current event).
I would relate this event to the death of Abraham Lincoln. Because just like fidel Abraham was a
leader of people and those people were sad when he died.

Relate your Event to the a Theme (at least 3 sentences). SEE BACK FOR THEMES
I relate this topic to conflict under political structures. I would relate it to conflict because
people lost their dictator which was basically their leader of Cuba. Without a dictator that can
cause problems and problems are conflict.

Why were his ashes placed on a mausoleum?

What was the reason for Raul Castro to say that he wanted no buildings named after him?
Was Fidel hiding his personal life because he was ashamed by his family?
Was he purposely buried with other Cuban heroes?
