The data in the present folder are described and analyzed in the Case Study 12
("Analyzing Phase and Group Velocities Jointly with Horizontal-to-Vertical
Spectral Ratio") of the Elsevier book.
In such a paragraph we describe the HoliSurface (HS) analysis (a patented
technique aimed at analyzing the surface-wave propagation while using the active
data recorded by a single 3-component geophone), as well as the HVSR and ESAC
methodologies (it is shown how the HS solution is identical to the one obtained by
considering the ESAC approach - which clearly requires a heavier field effort).
In a near future article, a further HS improvement (capable of further simplifying the
inversion process) will be shown.

Stay tuned (subscribe to our newsletter and social network).

The area (NE Italy) is dominated by a mix of gravels ad soft sediments.

Few comments about the data:

MASW (ZVF component - geometry indicated in the file name according to the nomenclature
explained in the Elsevier book, paragraph 2.2)
Since the seismograph used to acquire the data was an old 16bit model, as you will see the data
quality is not too good. Nevertheless analyses do not significantly suffer from that.

ESAC data
As you can see from the following image, the channels 7 and 24 are "out of order":

Just "remove" them as it follows:
