Experience and Research Skills:


1. Synthesis of multiple Sulfur and Selenium containing fused bicyclic heterocycles
(Diselenolodiselenole, Thienopentathiepine).
2. Synthesis of conjugated polymers on combination of an electron-donor (Thiophene, 3-
Hexylthiophene, Cyclopenta[c]thiophene, Cyclopenta[c]selenophene) and an electron-acceptor
(4,4-difluoro-4-bora-3a,4a-diaza-s-indacene, naphthalenediimide, diketopyrrolopyrrole) moiety
alternately.
3. Synthesis of acetylene and vinylene containing conjugated Co-polymers.
4. Basic reaction skills - Glaser coupling, Vilsmeier-Haack reaction, Sonogashira coupling, Stille
coupling, Suzuki coupling, Aromatization with DDQ and Pd/C, asymmetric and symmetric
protection of amide groups in fused aromatic systems (1 to 10 gm scale), reduction reactions with
LiAlH4, NaH and Sn/HCL, selective halogenation reactions, Reactions with n-BuLi, LDA, TiCl4.
5. Single crystal X-ray crystallography for structure determination of conjugated small molecules.
6. Electrochemical polymerization of conjugated small molecules by chronoamperometry.
7. Electrochemical and chemical doping of conjugated polymers and spectroelectrochemical study.
8. Fabrication and characterization of organic solar cells of conjugated materials. Configuration:
ITO/PEDOT:PSS/(1:1 w/w Polymer:PC71BM)/Ca/Al.
9. Organic field-eect transistors (OFETs) to measure the charge-carrier mobility of conjugated
materials by using prefabricated bottom-contact FET substrates.
