Introduction
This file is about our studytrip to Suffolk, it is going to be the
best week of my life. I especially look forward to the schoolday
on Thursday! Enjoy reading!

 Preparation 1/2
1.1 What do you already know about Suffolk and Cambridge?
Suffolk is a city that lies in the west of the United Kingdom where the
people speak English. It has got a lot of fields so a lot of agriculture and it
is an old city. In Suffolk also live a few famous people, for example Ed
Sheeran.

Cambridge lies in the in the west of the United Kingdom where the people
speak English. It lies quite close to London and it has a big university
called: Cambridge University.

1.2 Have you already looked up information on Suffolk and

Cambridge?
Yes, I have. I did this because I was quite curious where we are going,
where we are going to sleep and I wanted to know something more about
the Cambridge University.

1.3 What do you expect you will see there?

I think I will see old houses, big buildings, lots of people, shops, museums
and of course the Walnutree Manor house.

1.4 Have you ever been on a high speed train before?

No I havent, I usually travel by car or bike. But of course I have ever
travelled just by a regular train.

1.5 If yes, what was your experience of travelling this way?

1.6 If not, what do you expect it will be like?

I think it will be really fun because you are going so fast at that moment.
But on the other hand I think it will be a little bit boring because you go
through a tunnel so you almost see nothing. And I am a little afraid of the
refuges which have fled from countries like Syria.

1.7 What do you expect your accommodation will be like?

Miss Neijnens already told us a little bit about it and the things she told us
sound very fun and cool! I think it will be a big house which is very cozy
and fun and I think the surrounding things like the sport field are very nice
and fun too. About the house itself I think that it will be clean and cozy and
I looked forward to go there.

1.8 Do you know any English sports?

Yes I do, for example: ice hockey, cricket and football.

1.9 Which skills do you think you will be able to use during the
trip? E. g. asking for directions, answering in English, etc.
I think for example: asking questions, asking for directions and answering
in English.

1.10 What (new skills) do you expect to learn during the trip?
I think how to pay in shops, new words and ordering a meal.

1.11 During the trip you will need to speak English as much as
possible. How are you going to stick to this?
I have made an appointment with Mette: Mette and I have both a white
paper, every time we hear each other talking Dutch we get a cross on your

own paper, the number of crosses you have on your own paper at the end
of the trip, that is the number of sweets you need to give to the other.

2.1 Where is Suffolk?

2.2 What is Suffolk famous for?
I think because Suffolk has a rich and big history, unique architecture,
beaches, countyside and first class local food and drink, so it attracts a lot
of famous people, in the past but also now.

2.3 Which modern famous films were filmed in Suffolk and which
in Cambridge?
I dont exacly know what you mean with modern, but I took some of the
films from 2000 u/i now.

2.5 What information can you find about Bury St. Edmunds?
Bury St Edmunds is a town in the county Suffolk, and formerly the county
town of West Suffolk. It has got a very big cathedral which is formed in
1914, in the centre of Bury St Edmunds lie the remains of an abbey,
surrounded by the Abbey Gardens, a park. The abbey is a shrine to Saint
Edmund, the Saxon King of the East Angles, the town also has the St
Mary's Church, it was part of the abbey complex and originally was one of
three large churches in the town (the others: St James, now St
Edmundsbury Cathedral, and St Margaret's, which is gone now).

2.6 Where is Cambridge?

2.7 Why is Cambridge so populair?

Because it has got a very big university: Cambridge University. Which is
one of the oldest universities exsisting.

2.8 Which famous scientist went to

Cambridge university and why is he so
famous?
Stephen Hawking, he is born on the 8 January
1942 in Oxford. He is an English theoretical
physicist: cosmologist. The special thing aout him
is that he has a special form of amyotrophic
lateral sclerosis (ALS), this means that his
muscles gradually stop working.

2.9 Where is Walnutree Manor?

It lies in Suffolk, see

2.10 What do English

students wear to school, and why?
English students wear an
uniform to school. They do
this because:

When children go on a school trip they all

look the same and so can't get lost

Stops children worrying about what to wear each day

Everyone is equal

Parents don't have to buy expensive and varied clothes for their
children (some dont have the money for this)

 Diary
Day 1: Monday 21 Septembre

7:45
Finally! We took off! My alarm clock went at
5:30! That is so
early, but it is worth
it. I am sure that this
is going to be an
awesome week.

15:30
We just went through the tunnel! That was
so amazing. It was really dark and the
train shocked a bit but that didnt matter
to me. Only one and a half hour to go. I am
so excited!

17:30
Yay! We arrived finally arrived at Walnutree Manor. It is such a big house.
We sleep on the right of the house, there is another accomodation. I share
the room with: Emkea, Linn, Mette en Danique. It is very cozy and there is
a big window with a beautiful view. There are 4 bunk beds in our room.
Mette, Linn, Emkea and I sleep on top, Danique shares a bed with Emkea
and so she sleeps on the bottom bed. Let the fun begin!

21:30

This night was so fun! We had a kind of

theater workshop with crazy people
from the crew. We for example needed
to act like a chicken or a robber. When
someone of the crew screamed:
GEKKO! you needed to find a wall as
fast as possible and stand against it.
That was really funny. Now I am sitting
on my bed, I think am going to take a
shower. Byeee!

Day 2: Tuesday 22 Septembre

7:15
Goodmorning! I slept really well this night. The beds are nice, but I dont
have very much time because breakfast is within 15 minutes so I need to
go. See ya!

11:00

We just had an English lesson, it was pretty boring actually. We needed to
match words with their defenitions for example. Now we have a break of
25 minutes after that the second English lessons starts.

13:15
Yay! The English lessons are done! This might sound not nice, but the
second lesson was even more boring. We now needed to give our opion
about a newspaper article. We now have a longer break. We will have
lunch in about 10 minutes after that we have 2 games! I am looking
forward tot hat.

16:10
The lunch was delicious! And the game was so nice! We did shooting with
a gun! I didnt hit the paper, I wasnt even close! I think I have some
problems with aiming

18:15
The last game was so fun! It was shooting with bo wand arrow! I just felt
like Katniss Everdeen from the Hunger Games. Diner is in about 15
minutes and I still need to dress myself so: Byee!

21:30
Diner was pretty okay I guess. The night navigation was fun. The route was
nice, it just went straight through the bushes. I am going to take a shower
now because I am pretty dirty. After that I am going to bed because the
alarm clock will go very early. Goodnight!

Day 3: Wednesday 23 Septembre

6:00
Omg, it is so early! Today we are going to Cambridge and a school I really
look forward to it!

12:15
We just visited a school, that was
really interesting! I was in a group
with Linn and Silke and we had the
subjects: humanities and EPS. It was
really interesting and I actually
learned something of it. We (group
1) are now sitting in the park and
were eating our packed lunch, it is
delicous.

14:00
We are all in the bus again. Cambridge here we come!

20:30
Wow Cambridge was so nice! We
made a boat trip and we sailed
along the Cambridge University. It
is so big and beautiful! Mette,
Emkea, Linn and I also shopped a
lot of course, we have bought very
nice things! I am very tired, it was
a really exhauting day. We will
have a film night tonight, I dont
think everyone will be there. But I
am going. After the film night I am going straight to bed. Sleep well
already.

Day 4: Thursday 24 Semptembre

5:55
Omg it is so early again! But, I am really looking forward to today! We are
going to visit a school!

19:00
This was the best day
of the week until now!
We (Linn, Silke and I)
went to a school called:
Saxmundham Free
School. We walked into
a room where 7
students of that school
were standing. Your
group could choose
themselves who they
were going with. We
didnt really need to think a long time and walked straight to a girl called
Scarlett Pastor. She had brown hair, brown eyes and a very friendly face.
The four of us walked to art. It was a really nice lesson. We had to draw a
skeleton in all colours of the rainbow. After that we had geography and
then we had a break of 20 minutes. After the break we had music and
French which. But these 2 lessons were so chaotic. With the French lesson
everybody was just chilling and on their phone. In that lessons we also
gave each other our phonenumbers and instagram accounts. After French
we had a big break with food from the school. After the big break we had
English and Maths. It was a fantastic day! We just had diner and the party
night will be in 30 minutes. I am going to dress myself. See you later!

This was it, the last activity here in Walnutree Manor. It was such a great
night! We danced, screamed and above all had a lot of fun! It was
amazing!

Day 5: Friday

7:30
Goodmorning! This was already the last night. But I am sure today will
be awesome as well

14:30
Everyone is back in the bus we are
on our way home. St. Bury
Edmunds was great and beautiful.
And above all: they had a
poundshop!

1:30
Finally back home! We had 5
hours delaying! When we finally
arrived at the tunnel the teachers told us that refugees had attacked the
tunnel and that we had to wait very long! Fortunately there were a few
shops. The way back was actually very fun! It was the best way of my life!

 Funny anecdote
During the trip there actually happened one really funny thing..

Mac Donalds
On the trip to England we stopped to have a break. The bus parked and
everyone left the bus to stretch. We already discovered very fast that
there was a Mac Donalds. Almost everyone went to the Mac Donalds,
Mette and I too. First we didnt know what to take, but after a few minutes
we decided to take a MC Flurry caramel. We ordered our ice cream, paid,
searched for a table and sat down. Then all of a sudden Mette started to
laugh, actually there had happened nothing funny but I needed to laugh
too. And then I needed to laugh so hard that the ice cream came out of my
nose! Mette and I just could not stop laughing at that moment! We will
never forget this!

Feelings

During the trip I felt so happy,

Like the day we went to the Abbey.

We shopped a lot, that was fun,

But a few people were late and needed to run.

Tuesday I felt a little bit ill,

I think it was the stress and I just needed to chill.

And when I woke up on Wednesday,

I felt super again and screamed:YAY!

The rest of the week I felt super,

Especially at the moment with the blooper
