Quality Control (IVF Laboratories):

There are many factors that go into making a world class IVF facility in addition to
established and experienced people that make it all work.

Our procedure room and IVF lab are connected by a door and only a few feet separate the
incubators from the procedure table. Thus, the embryos are transferred from the incubators
into the patients womb in minimal time.

We have controlled for many factors like air quality, temperature, pH, Osmolality and light
which are known to affect oocytes and embryos. Air quality is crucial for the success of IVF
treatment. The ambient environment air quality has been enhanced with decreased light
and no windows in the lab as bright light can harm embryos.
Any type of fragrance is not permitted in the lab area and non-toxic paints have been used
throughout the facility.

HEPA (i.e. High Efficiency Particulate Air) and charcoal filtrated air, positive pressure and
general sterility precautions have been taken and are constantly monitored. HEPA filtration
removes 99.97 % of airborne particles at 3 mm. The air is filtered with charcoal to remove
carbon based contaminants and HEPA to remove particulate material before entering the
lab space.

We have adhered to international norms to minimize emission of volatile organic

compounds (VOC) from materials associated with the building like paints, floorings,
adhesives etc. and special precautions have been taken to ensure VOC emission is minimal.

We have no anesthetic gases in the procedure room. Even perfume and cologne may have
VOCs, so the entire staff and patients are instructed not to wear them. These compounds
could work their way into the incubators and affect the embryos. The paints used in the IVF
lab are all epoxy based compounds that emit low VOCs.

The flooring is all single sheet which wraps up the wall for 6 inches. This lowers the chance
of dust or germs in the crevices between flooring tiles and makes it easier to clean the same.
In order to control the lab environment, it is best not to have windows or other openings
that may hamper the insulation of the lab.

We have specifically controlled for temperature in our lab and procedure room as cold
temperatures is detrimental to oocytes and embryos. Cooling only 1 C may cause
irreversible meiotic spindle damage to the human oocyte that may not recover upon
warming.
