Thursday Morning Consensus Map Overview:

8:00 8:05 Welcome! Introductions (Everybody/Audreys Skit )

8:05 -8:10 Brainstorming Standard (Independently) (Kayla)

8:10 8:20 Discuss standard and thoughts with a partner (Ashley)

8:20 8:30 Triangle Activity Go to the grade level corner you feel the standard
belongs and come to a consensus as to why it is that grade level. Discuss the how
you came to that conclusion. Choose a representative to present your groups
discussion. (Elissa)

8:30 8:40 Group presentations about standard (Elissa)

8:40 9:00 Go back to seats and display its a 7th grade standard. Popcorn ideas
on the breakdown of the standard and essential vocabulary. (Type ideas into a word
document - Sarah)

9:00 9:15 Show the deconstruction of the 7th grade standard (Robin)

9:15 9:25 Break (Post Summer work posters)

9:30 9:45 Progression of the standard from 6th, 7th, 8th (Elissa)

9:45 10:00 How we created the consensus map Came up with a logical
progression for creation of units using information from other states, Glencoe,
resources online, appendices from Common Core (Elissa/Robin)

10:00 10:45Pull up Geometry consensus map (September/October) and talk


about the specific parts of the document.

Discuss that there is an introduction letter, explaining it shows the reasoning


for the different colored highlighting, coloring of fonts, symbols, etc, the
question starters for math practices, and our contact information. (Sandy)
Discuss using the math practices. (Robin)
Discuss the parts of the consensus map pages (Unit topic, date range,
standards, math practices, description of standards, previous knowledge, key
vocabulary, learning tasks with DOK level). (Elissa)
Discuss Depth of Knowledge (wheel) Explain how they need to DO the
activity before assigning the activity. (Audrey)
We are aware that this is a fluid document so we ask for suggestions for
improvement that you can record in the black journal provided throughout
the year and send them to Judy. The document will be revisited again next
summer to make improvements. (Sarah)
