Supply chain
Modern technologies can be adopted in the supply chain activities so as to create better
visibility of these activities. When the supply chain activities are visible the management can
streamline their supply sources as well as have control of the entire supply process and stay ahead
of competition.
Inventory management
New technological methods of managing inventories enable the firm to hold their
inventories in the most cost effective way. Strategies like just in time can be used to ensure that
only raw materials are supplied in the firm when an order is placed to reduce much stock hold in
the stores and warehouses.
Quality
quality
Quality management information systems can be adopted to give the firm a framework to
effectively manage the products and services quality. A well technological enhanced system
ensures level of sustainability and risk management. Similarly, an organization can adopt the
advanced system of obtaining certification to improve the standards of services and goods offered.
Quality assurance and the ISO 9000 steps for certification
Quality assurance is all the planned and systematic activities implemented within the
quality system that can be demonstrated to provide confidence that a product or service will fulfil
the quality requirements.
ISO 9000 is a set of international standards on quality management and quality assurance
developed to help companies effectively document the quality system elements to be implemented
to maintain an efficient quality system. ISO 9000 can help a company satisfy its customers, meet
regulatory requirements and achieve continual improvement.
These are several steps should be followed to get the ISO 9000.
An organisation should ensure that the standard they choose is right for the organisation at
that time, this is because before one becomes certified they must have been operating for at least 3
months. The organisation could engage any industry or professional associations to clarify how
that certification has worked for other members.
The organization should buy a copy of the standards from the International Organisation
for standards which explains the standards in a breakdown manner to make the ISO 9000 standards
more accessible and accurate.
Before signing up to when agreeing to proceed with a certification body, the organization
should ensure that they clarify with the standard before obtaining quotes and check for other hidden
costs such as registration and travel fees.
This is the process where an auditor reviews your existing systems and provides you with
a gap analysis report which will identify the actions required to meet the standards. This helps the
firm from under preparation.
Step 9: once your organization has already filled the gaps highlighted in the stage 1 report,
an auditor will carry out the stage 2 audit which will reveal the effectiveness of your management
system and whether it meets the required standards of the specific ISO standards to be
implemented.
STEP 10: Maintaining Your Management System
This stage is where the hard work really starts. In house communication and training should
be carried out regularly to ensure ongoing awareness and engagement with staff. More formally,
internal audits should be carried out to ensure the requirements of the standards are continually
met. A management review should then be held to set out corrective actions as required.
