I am an Indian soldier who lived in India during the Kashmir conflict.

It all started when West

and East Pakistan shared a religious bond, however, they began to drive apart when they realized
their ethnic differences and their 1,100 mile separation. West Pakistan, now known as modern
day Pakistan, did not want to separate, however, East Pakistan, now known as modern day
Bangladesh, did not feel the same way. Then in 1971 a civil war broke out in East and West
Pakistan. Just then me and my troops came into the civil war and helped East Pakistan win their
independence. A while later, Pakistan soon gained interest in the territory of Kashmir which soon
led to many destructive wars with us Indians. The leader of Kashmir tried to keep their territory
independent when the partition of India occurred. However, he failed to do this and he gave up
the territory to us in 1947. Soon after, Pakistan returned and invaded Kashmir. After many years
of fighting in three wars, a cease-fire was signed in 1972 to put a break to fighting with violence,
however, the situation of Kashmir resolves unresolved. Due to all this, India, Pakistan, and China
each control part of Kashmir as a disputed territory. Another large reason that many want the
land of Kashmir is because the Indus River flows through the territory which is a huge source of
drinking and irrigation water. Due to the importance of the river, Pakistan is unwilling to let
India control such a vital resource.
