Ryan Jackson is interested in becoming a civil engineer to perform engineering

duties such as planning, designing, and overseeing construction and maintenance of

building structures and facilities including roads, railroads, airports, bridges, harbors,

channels, dams, irrigation projects, pipelines, power plants, and more. Ryan finds civil

engineering interesting because he likes to work with real-world materials such as wood,

tools, and machinery. He also observed that most civil engineers work outside and do not

need to do much paperwork which also appeals to Ryan. He would be happy with this job

because he enjoys working outside and investing his time trying out new ideas. Ryan is

passionate about his work and is interested in overseeing the effective design and

advancement of projects.

Last year, Ryan had an interest in becoming a civil engineer. As of then, he changed his

interests in the field of engineering to mechanical or biomedical engineering. Ryan finds

mechanical and biomedical engineering interesting because he enjoys subjects like

mathematics and science and also loves working with programed materials like mechanical

arms or legs or maybe even just repairing or creating mechanical objects such as engines of

cars.

The average salary of a civil engineer is about $63,409 per year.

The average salary of a mechanical engineer is about $68,268 per year and biomedical

engineering averages about $66,097 per year.

Ryan is preparing himself for these types of careers by taking all of his core classes. He also

plans on taking career developing classes like Computer Aid Drafting or Intro to Engineering.
Some possible majors are Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) Right now, Ryan is interested

in the Engineering program at RMU.

Ryan has done some research and has also met with the coordinator and associate

professor of mechanical engineer at Robert Morris University. Ryan learned and got to

experience how everything is programed to work in the engineering department at RMU.

Ryan has attended all of the "My Path" speakers this year at Cardinal Wuerl.
