From the Director
We are SO CLOSE to having the funding for our Save
the Storks van - so very close! Its exciting - and
terrifying at the same time! Exciting because this is
something weve talked about - and prayed about - for
three years. Terrifying because we still have so much to
do to be able to use the MMU (Mobile Medical Unit) -
and so many unmet needs.
The BIGGEST need we have at the moment is a
(volunteer) Medical Director and Nurse Manager (part
time - paid). These are essential for the operation of the
MMU - and it doesnt make any sense to us to purchase
the MMU if we dont have these two people in place.
Weve been operating with the belief that God knows
who the people are who have the heart for what we do -
and the desire to do something to help us. Were going
to continue to operate that way - and well continue to
walk by faith that He will provide.
The other HUGE need we have is for an increase in our
operating budget. We have had a third person on staff
(part time) since September, and Delaiah has done an
AMAZING job of networking with the local churches
and civic organizations, which is something weve
needed for many years. Unfortunately, our income
hasnt increased over the past 9 months to cover her
salary, and were looking at having to let her go. We
believe that will be detrimental to our growth, as it will
be just me and Stephanie trying to wear all the hats
again. In order to keep her we need at least an additional
$1200/month.
Once we have the MMU, we will have an additional
$2000 in expenses/month to operate the van (that
includes gas, licenses/permits and the Nurse Manager
salary).
I HATE asking people for money - I hate having to put
this out there - but I also hate abortion and what it does
to women. I hate the thought that if we dont have our
MMU that babies will die because we cant provide the
level of care their moms need at the time theyre making
a choice. I hate the thought of hearing women tell me
that they didnt know we were here - or they would have
made a different choice. SO - as much as I hate asking
for support - Im asking. Not for me - not even for
Delaiah - but for the moms and their unborn children
who need somewhere to go other than Planned
Parenthood.

$5/month will add up over the year and make a
difference. Our monthly donors help us plan for the
future. (You can set up monthly payments on our website
using our PayPal account.) You can make a one time
donation to help cover the cost of the MMU or the
operation of the van. You can put the word out about our
URGENT need for medical personnel to help us. (We
have job descriptions ready - we can send you copies to
give to anyone you think might be interested.) You can
pray.
Our Board of Directors is giving us one month to come
up with the extra income we need to keep Delaiah on
staff - we have from now through the end of June to raise
the $1200/month we need for her position. I hope that
you will prayerfully consider how you can help us - so we
can continue serving the abortion minded and abortion
vulnerable women in our community.

Why Are We Going Mobile?
Our mission has always been to help women who are
considering abortion find - consider - and choose other
alternatives. When we started this ministry 32 years ago,
it was easy to get women to come see us - we had
something to offer they couldnt get on their own - a free
pregnancy test. Now those tests are readily available at
the Dollar store, and women no longer need to come to us
for a test.
What they DO need is a verification of a positive
pregnancy test so they can apply for MediCal. We cant
offer that paperwork because it could be argued that by
doing so we are practicing medicine without a license.
In this litigious climate - and on this contentious issue -
we would be putting ourselves at great risk for being sued
- and for having our doors shut forever. We cant take
that risk, because there are still many lives to save!
The other reason we need to do this is that young women
are now seeking a one stop shop - they want to go to
ONE place for everything. SO - even if they need a free
pregnancy test, they wont come to us if we cant also
provide them with the paperwork and/or an ultrasound.
Going Mobile is the only way we see to create that one
stop shop and provide all of the services theyre seeking.

2017 Banquet
Our Annual Banquet will be held on Friday, October 20th -
please put this date on your calendar and make plans to attend!
Since Horizon is losing their facility to High Tech High, the
Banquet is being moved to another location. Weve tried to find
a location that will accommodate as many people as weve had
in the past, but so far, we havent found a place thats as large as
Horizon that will let us use their facility for what we can afford
(free!). Weve been SUPER blessed by Horizon hosting this
event for so many years - weve been spoiled! Were praying
with them that God provides them with a great location that will
meet all of their needs!
We are on the calendar at Clairemont Emmanuel Baptist Church
- where we held our first Banquet. The venue is smaller, so we
wont be able to have as many people attend. It will be VERY
important for Table Hosts to invite people who are potential
donors or volunteers. Hosting is super easy - so if youd like to
host a table for 8, please get in touch with us and well be sure to
get you all the details (info@silentvoices.org).
The Comedian Nazareth will be our guest speaker again this
year - he was SO much fun last year, and we did so well
financially that we wanted him back. If you were at the Banquet
and know how good he was, you can talk to friends and family
that may have never been to a Silent Voices Banquet - what a
great way to introduce them to our ministry!
Mason Nehemiah
Every few years we lose a baby - its always very hard for
everyone involved, especially for the mom and dad. Mason
Nehemiahs parents were told about a month before his due date
that something wasnt right - there were obvious signs that he
had serious malformations that would likely end in his death.
They could have induced labor early, hastening his demise, but
they opted to wait as long as they could, giving him every
chance to develop. We prayed with them that God would do a
miracle and heal their little boy.
That didnt happen, and Mason Nehemiah was born on March
28th, and was immediately placed in the NICU. His mom and
dad werent allowed to hold him - all they could do was watch
him through the incubator walls.

Several days went by before they knew the extent
of his condition - they were told that he had
Trisomy 16, and there were many serious defects
that were incompatible with life. He remained
in the hospital for four weeks - defying the odds.
Finally, Mason was sent home to spend his
remaining days with his mom and dad.
They were able to do the normal things you do
with a newborn - bathe him - snuggle with him -
change his diapers - feed him - and take pictures
(lots and lots of pictures). Those days were
bittersweet - but they were blessed having the
opportunity to be with their baby and to shower
him with their love.
Mason Nehemiah passed into eternity on the
morning of May 6th - we got the message that he
was with Jesus while we were at the Walk for
Life. We immediately took some time to pray for
his mom and dad.
Masons memorial service was held on Sunday,
May 21st at Horizon SouthBay. We are so very
grateful for them allowing us to use their facility -
and for The Branch Church (they helped cover all
the burial costs and provided the food after the
service). Thanks, too, to Evan Wickham (Pastor
of Park Hill Church) for officiating at the service.
