Networking Application
Brief Introduction to Networking
Application
BS8700 can form the network with BSC or with RRU.
ZXSDR B8200 GU360 can form the network with BSC in the fol-
lowing modes:
Star networking
Chain networking
ZXSDR B8200 GU360 can form the network with RRU in the fol-
lowing modes:
Star networking
Chain networking
Ring networking
Star networking In this networking mode, optical fibers are used for the transmis-
sion. Figure 4 shows the networking diagram. B8200 can form a
star network with at most 12 RRUs.
Chain networking In this networking mode, RRU connects with BBU or cascaded
RRUs through fiber interfaces. Figure 5 shows the networking di-
agram. A maximum of four RRUs can be cascaded in the chain
networking of B8200. The chain networking mode is suitable for
zonal sparsely-populated areas. This mode can save a large num-
ber of transmission equipment.
Ring networking Figure 6 shows the ring networking mode. In the ring networking,
a RRU is connected with a BBU or other RRUs through fiber inter-
faces.
Chain networking BS8700 can form a chain network with lower-level BTSs via E1/T1
pm Abis interface. It supports at most five levels of the cascading,
as shown in Figure 8.

Baseband Processing board type C (BPC), Universal Baseband Pro-
cessing board for GSM (UBPG), Power Module (PM), Site Alarm
module (SA), Surrounding Monitoring Expansion module (SE, and
Remote Radio Unit (RRU). The relationship between the modules
is shown in Figure 9.
Working Principles
Control Data Flow
The control data flow in BS8700 is as shown in Figure 11. Abis/Iub
interface control plane data accesses the system via Abis/Iub in-
terface and terminates at CC.
Clock System
In BS8700, the CC board generates and distributes the clock. The
clock source falls into the following types:
Embedded GPS receiver
External GPS/Galileo/BeiDou receiver
BITS-2MHz clock
BITS-2Mbps clock (introduced through the 8th E1/T1 on SA
board)
E1/T1 line clock
IEEE1588 clock (IP clock reference source)
CC distributes two groups of clocks, 61.44 MHz clock and FR (10
ms)/FN clock, simultaneously and distributes to the boards via the
backplane, to meet the requirements of GSM/UMTS respectively.
Master/Slave Design
To ensure the stability of the BS8700 system, the main control
board, CC board, is designed in the M/S structure.
