Policy Topic: Classroom Instruction

Policy: Faculty, in collaboration with the principal, shall select the appropriate instructional
practices to be utilized in their classrooms, to ensure that the schools curriculum is fully
implemented. Persons who wish to have the school council endorse a particular instructional
practice to be implemented school-wide shall present the instructional practice to the Curriculum
committee, which shall study the benefits of the instructional practice. The committee may
present a recommendation relative to the proposed instructional practice to the school council for
their consideration and approval.

The principal shall observe instruction to ensure that endorsed instructional practices are being
implemented at the school.

Selection of appropriate instructional strategies will be based upon:

1. Desegregation of data from K-PREP performance reports.


2. Analysis of student work.
3. Surveys from all stakeholders.
4. Faculty and grade level team meetings.

Instruction strategies will be selected that will:

1. Assist in differentiating instruction to meet the needs of individual students.


2. Reduces academic gaps in identified student groups.
